Small steps count. 🌱

Making an appointment you’ve been putting off. Trying one small change to your routine. Asking someone to explain something again. Saying when your support isn’t working for you.

These things can take energy, courage and support—and they deserve recognition.

Progress looks different for everyone, and your capacity can change from day to day. You’re allowed to go at your own pace, ask for help and take a break when you need one. 💛

Save this as a reminder for the days when a small step feels like a big effort.

“You can care deeply and still need support.” 💛

Caring for someone you love can mean holding a lot — appointments, routines, advocacy, worry, and the everyday things that often go unseen.

This Carers Week, we’re recognising unpaid carers and reminding you that your needs matter too.

You’re allowed to feel tired. You’re allowed to ask for help. You’re allowed to take a break without feeling guilty.

Needing support doesn’t take away from the love, care and commitment you give.

From all of us at Community Support Squad, thank you for everything you do — including the things nobody sees. You deserve care and support too. 🌷

“What does a Support Coordinator actually do?” 🤔

You’ve got your NDIS plan… but figuring out where to start can feel overwhelming.

A Support Coordinator helps you understand your plan, explore your options and bring your supports together in a way that works for you. 💛

That might look like:

🌿 Explaining your funding in everyday language.
🤝 Helping you find and connect with suitable providers.
💬 Supporting you to ask questions and communicate your needs.
🧩 Working through problems when supports aren’t going smoothly.
📝 Helping you prepare for plan reassessments.
✨ Building your confidence to manage your supports and make informed choices.

At Community Support Squad, we take the time to understand what matters to you—your goals, your preferences and what everyday life looks like.

Your voice and choices stay at the centre.

Support coordination, recovery coaching, support work… what’s the difference? 💭

The names can sound similar, but each offers a different kind of support.

🌼 Support coordination helps you understand your NDIS plan, explore providers and organise your supports.

🌷 Psychosocial recovery coaching works alongside you to build skills, confidence and routines that support your recovery goals.

🌿 Support work provides practical assistance with everyday activities, at home and in the community.

Swipe through for examples of what each can look like in everyday life. ➡️

At Community Support Squad, we start with what matters to you — your goals, your preferences and the support you want.

Unsure where to start? Send us a message. We’re happy to talk through your options. 💛

Who supports the people doing the supporting? 💛

If someone in your life is an unpaid carer, you might wonder how you can help. Sometimes, a small, thoughtful offer is a good place to start.

💬 Ask what would make their week a little easier.
🍲 Offer something specific, like dropping off dinner or picking up groceries.
🌷 Respect their answer — including “not today”.
🤍 Check in again. Support matters beyond the first conversation.

Every carer’s situation is different. Listening to what they need helps make your offer useful.

And if you’re a carer yourself: you can care deeply and still need support. Your needs matter too.

Save this post for the next time you want to reach out but aren’t sure what to say.

Feeling heard is part of good support. 💙
It means having space to explain what matters to you, being included in decisions, and knowing your preferences have been taken seriously.
As World Mental Health Day approaches, we’re reflecting on how much listening matters. What helps you feel heard?

What does a psychosocial recovery coach actually do? 💙
They get to know what matters to you, help you explore and organise supports, and work alongside you to build skills and confidence. They can also help you plan for times when you need more support.
Recovery looks different for everyone. Your goals lead the way.
Have questions about recovery coaching? Send Community Support Squad a message. We support plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants.

October is Mental Health Month 💙

Mental health looks different for everyone. So does the support that helps.

For some people, support means having someone listen without rushing to fix things. For others, it means help making a plan, getting through a difficult day, or taking a step towards something that matters to them.

At Community Support Squad, we believe you should have a say in what that support looks like. We start by listening.

What helps you feel genuinely supported?
