So… for each section I’m working through in this video focus on massaging 30-60 seconds per section. Don’t be afraid of pressure. (Obviously don’t hurt yourself)…

Be sure to drink hot to warm water to help open the nasal cavity and avoid sticky damp foods like ice cream, cold water or any cold drinks, salads, wind exposure outside and not covering the feet. Keep the whole body warm.

🧧 In Chinese medicine, there’s a traditional concept that emotions like anger, frustration and resentment are linked to the Liver’s role in keeping Qi and Blood moving smoothly 🩸🌿

When these feelings build up over time, TCM theory describes this as “Liver Qi constraint” - a pattern some people describe as feeling tense, wound up, or irritable.

The goal isn’t “don’t feel angry.” In this tradition, the idea is supporting the body’s natural flow through gentle movement, breathwork, and everyday self-care.
✨ moving the body gently
✨ breathing to release tension through the chest & ribs
✨ acupressure as part of a Liver Qi practice
✨ warming foods, traditionally seen as supportive

Anger is information, not a flaw - and Chinese medicine offers one lens for understanding it 💚

PC6 Neiguan and PC8 Laogong are two Pericardium points I often think of together when someone is feeling anxious, restless or overstimulated.

In Chinese medicine, the Pericardium has a close relationship with the Heart and the Shen, which is essentially our mental and emotional state.

PC6 is used to regulate the chest, calm the Shen and settle that feeling of internal tension, palpitations, nausea or anxiety sitting high in the body.

PC8 is in the centre of the palm and is traditionally used to clear Heat from the Pericardium, so I tend to think of it more when someone feels wired, agitated, restless or like they just can’t switch off.

Used together, they can be a really simple pair to help settle the chest, calm the mind and bring the body back down a little.

You can gently press each point for around 30–60 seconds while slowing your breathing.

Dry cough that just won’t go away? 🌬️

In Chinese medicine, a dry cough can be a sign that the Lungs need more moisture and nourishment, not more drying. 💜

Try these simple food and lifestyle supports:

🍐 Stewed or poached pear
🍎 Cooked apple
🍄 Tremella mushroom / white fungus
🤍 White foods such as radish and pear are traditionally associated with nourishing and supporting the Lungs
💧 Sip warm fluids throughout the day

And reduce things that can dry or irritate the Lungs:

☕ Too much coffee
🌶️ Chilli and very spicy foods
🔥 Dry heating and hot air
🍪 Very dry, crunchy foods
🍷 Alcohol

In TCM, the aim is to moisten the Lungs, nourish fluids and calm that dry, irritating cough.

If a cough is persistent, worsening, or associated with shortness of breath, fever, chest pain or blood, always have it medically assessed.

🥜🍌🍦🧊 Why can peanut butter, bananas, ice cream + cold water make phlegm worse in TCM?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Spleen and digestive system play an important role in transforming food and fluids into usable energy (Qi).

When this digestive function becomes sluggish, fluids may not be transformed and transported efficiently. Instead, they can accumulate as Dampness, which over time may contribute to Phlegm.

🥜 Peanut butter → rich, oily and heavy foods can contribute to Dampness, particularly when digestion is already weak.

🍌 Bananas → considered cooling and moistening, so large amounts may aggravate Dampness or phlegm-type patterns in some people.

🍦 Ice cream → combines cold temperature with rich, creamy ingredients, which from a TCM perspective can be particularly challenging for a weak digestive system.

🧊 Cold water → TCM traditionally favours room-temperature or warm fluids when digestion is weak, as excessive cold is thought to impair the Spleen and Stomach’s digestive function.

The simple TCM pathway is:

Weakened Spleen Qi → poor fluid transformation → Dampness → Phlegm 🌧️➡️🤧

This doesn’t mean these foods are inherently “bad” or that everyone needs to avoid them. TCM looks at your individual pattern, constitution and symptoms.

🌿 3 signs in Chinese Medicine your Liver is asking for help 🌿

In TCM, the Liver isn’t just about detox it’s about flow.
When Liver Qi gets stuck, your body whispers first… then it shouts 👀

✨ Sign #1: Jaw pain and temporal headaches express stress, especially subconscious stress as the gall bladder channel runs through the side of the jaw and temporal region.
🌙

✨ Sign #2: Shoulder & neck tension
The Liver governs tendons and smooth movement.
Tight shoulders = stuck Qi + stored stress you’ve been “holding together” all day 💻🫀

✨ Sign #3: Feeling agitated or easily irritated
anger problems = Liver stagnation.
When emotions can’t move, they build pressure. Agitation is the release valve 😮‍💨

🌱 The goal isn’t to push harder or “calm down”
It’s to support Liver flow gently - through food, lifestyle, and nervous system regulation.

Did you know your leg connects to your shoulders not only energetically through the meridian but fascial trains / webbing. This is why when we do acupuncture points on the leg is releases neck tension.

💧 Feeling drained?

Place your hands on your lower back.

Take a deep breath in.

Exhale with a long, gentle CHOOOOOO sound.

Repeat 6 times.

In Chinese Medicine, this Kidney healing sound is used to help release tension and support your body’s energy reserves. 🌿

Save this for when your battery feels low. 💚
