While cortisone injections can be very effective for reducing pain and inflammation, they are not a stand-alone fix for most injuries. In many cases, the injection helps calm symptoms temporarily, but it does not address the underlying reason the pain developed in the first place.
Factors such as muscle weakness, reduced mobility, joint stiffness, training errors, or excessive load often still need to be addressed. If these contributing factors are ignored, symptoms can return once the effects of the injection wear off.
Cortisone injections can play a crucial role in treatment and may be helpful in certain situations, especially when pain is limiting movement or rehabilitation. However, the best long-term outcomes usually come from combining symptom management with a structured individualised rehabilitation plan!
Pain relief is important, but lasting recovery comes from addressing the cause, not just the symptoms.
