Kids do well when they can - Dr. Ross Greene.
If a kid isn’t ‘doing well’, it is likely due to a lack of resources, skills, accommodations, and too much dysregulation.
Some days your kid is able to: handle disappointment, problem solve, work through a disagreement, initiate and finish tasks, follow instructions, remember important things. And sometimes they won’t.
When they don’t, it’s important to meet them with empathy and comfort and connection. They didn’t make the choice to do that job poorly today.
They made the best cake they could under pretty difficult conditions.
