Wondering if Wood is the right place for you to start? Swipe through and let’s find out together.

If you’ve never been to a wellness workshop like this before, that’s more than okay, honestly, most people walking through our door in Melbourne haven’t either. You don’t need to know a thing about Chinese medicine to feel completely at home here, and you definitely don’t need “good skin” to show up, half the room is usually still figuring theirs out too.

This one’s for you if your skin has been feeling a little dull, congested, or just “stuck” since winter, and you can’t quite put your finger on why. In Chinese medicine, that’s your Liver gently asking for a reset, which is exactly what our Wood element session is built around.

Curious is the only qualification you need, truly.

Join us for the Wood element session of our Chinese medicine wellness workshop series in Melbourne. Sunday 20 September, 2pm to 5pm, at ICI Studio, Caulfield South. Link in bio to book, we’d love to have you.

Still tired even though you’re eating well and sleeping enough?

In TCM, energy isn’t just about intake, it’s about absorption. The Spleen, Pi (脾), governs how food becomes usable Qi and Blood. When it’s under strain, even the cleanest diet won’t fully translate into energy.

Common culprits: cold and raw foods, stress driven Liver Qi stagnation, and long term overexertion depleting Kidney Qi.

Signs to watch for: tired after a full sleep, bloating, brain fog, cold hands and feet, afternoon sugar cravings.

Persistent fatigue is always worth checking with your GP first. Alongside that, acupuncture and herbal medicine can support the Spleen and Kidney systems TCM sees as the root cause.

In Chinese Medicine, children are naturally full of Yang energy—they are energetic, growing fast, and run warm! But because their systems are still developing, their Yin (internal moisture and cooling fluids) can get depleted easily.

When a child is Yin Deficient, you’ll notice dry skin, dry coughs, rosy cheeks, warm hands/feet at night, or trouble winding down for sleep.

The best way to rebuild their Yin isn’t with heavy remedies—it’s through gentle, moistening foods cooked soft and warm.

Best Foods to Nourish Yin in Kids:
Snow Pears: Clears Lung heat and moistens dryness.
Silver Ear Mushroom: Deeply hydrating for skin and gut.
Lily Bulbs (Bai He): Calms the spirit for better sleep.
Sweet Potatoes & Sesame: Moistens the intestines naturally.

Auriculotherapy: The Ear as a Microsystem

Auriculotherapy, Er Xue Liao Fa (耳穴疗法), is based on the idea that the ear reflects the whole body, almost like a tiny map of your organs and systems concentrated into one area.

By stimulating specific points on the ear, either with fine needles during a session or with small retained ear seeds afterwards, we aim to support the flow of Qi to the corresponding areas of the body.

It is commonly used alongside regular acupuncture to support:

Stress and anxious feelings
Sleep quality
Pain and tension
Appetite and digestive balance
Cravings, particularly during habit change

Ear seeds, tiny Vaccaria seeds taped onto the ear, are one of the easiest ways to extend this support between clinic visits. Gently pressing on them throughout the day can offer a small moment of grounding whenever you need it.

Auriculotherapy is not a replacement for medical care, and persistent or severe symptoms should always be assessed by your GP. But as a complementary layer of support, it is one of the gentlest tools we use in clinic.

Curious to try it? Ask about auriculotherapy at your next visit, or click the link in bio to book in.

At the start of this year, Dr. Jacob and Dr. Jyn joined the Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA), and our hearts couldn’t be fuller.

Being part of TIMA gives us the privilege of extending our care beyond clinic walls, offering acupuncture and holistic support to those who need it most. Every second month, Dr. Jyn visits the Box Hill Police Station on a Tuesday to care for the dedicated officers who protect our community, helping them find relief from stress, anxiety, and the physical demands of their work.

To help us serve even better, TIMA recently organized a special training session with Dr. Michael Chung (Dr TCM, B.Sc. Pharmacy, MSc and PhD in TCM). As a renowned master trainer of the Young Style Tung Extraordinary Acupuncture System with decades of international teaching experience, Dr. Chung generously dedicated a full day free of charge to train our team in specialized protocols commonly used in emergency relief situations. Learning directly from his vast expertise in both TCM and Western medicine was an unforgettable experience.

Green Cloud Chinese Medicine is deeply honored to stand alongside TIMA in this beautiful initiative. Care is at the heart of our practice, and spreading healing into our local community means the world to us. ❤️

Eczema looks the same on the outside — but underneath, it’s rarely the same story. In Chinese Medicine, we look at why the skin is reacting, not just where. Swipe through to see the 4 patterns I see most often in children, and what each one is actually asking for. 🌿

In Chinese Medicine, a child’s digestive system (Spleen and Stomach Qi) is naturally delicate and still developing.

Think of your child’s digestion like a small campfire 🔥. Every time they eat a main meal, you’re adding a piece of wood to the fire. It takes time, warmth, and energy for the body to break that food down into nutrients.

The modern habit of constant grazing, a cracker here, a juice box there, fruit every hour, is a bit like piling damp leaves on top of that fire before the last log has finished burning.

Over time, the fire can struggle to keep up. In TCM, we call this Food Stagnation, 积滞 (Jī Zhì).

When food sits undigested in the gut, it can ferment and generate internal heat and phlegm. You might notice:
• Restless sleep or teeth grinding at night
• Bad breath, especially in the morning
• A coated tongue or sudden flushed cheeks
• Bloating, irregular stools, or sudden picky eating
• Increased irritability or tantrums

The goal isn’t restriction, it’s rhythm.

Giving your child’s gut around 2.5 to 3 hours of rest between meals allows the digestive fire to clear the queue, reset, and build a genuine, healthy appetite for whole foods.

When we restore time between meals, we’re not just supporting digestion, we’re often calming their whole nervous system too. 🌿

These symptoms can have several causes, so if they’re persistent or you have any concerns, it’s always worth checking in with your paediatrician alongside any TCM support.

Ever check on your sleeping child only to find their pyjamas completely soaked through with sweat? ⚠️

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, sweat is considered the fluid of the Heart. Because a child has a naturally warm and active Pure Yang constitution, abnormal sweating can be a helpful clue showing us where their internal energy is out of balance.

There are two main types of paediatric sweating we look for:
💧 Night Sweats: If they only sweat during sleep, often soaking their head and neck, this is usually associated with Yin Deficiency. They may lack the cool, grounding fluids needed to anchor their active daytime energy at night, creating a form of internal deficiency heat.
💧 Daytime Sweats: If they break into a heavy sweat with minimal play, or even while sitting in a cool room, this points to Lung and Spleen Qi Deficiency. Their defensive immune shield is weaker, meaning the skin’s pores can struggle to close tightly.

There is also a third common culprit: Food Stagnation. Eating heavy or sweet snacks too close to bedtime can cause food to sit and ferment in the stomach, creating digestive heat that the body tries to vent through the skin during the first few hours of sleep.

If sweating comes with fever, sudden weight changes, or frequent illness, it’s always worth a check with your GP alongside any TCM support.

Recognising these signals is the first step to bringing your child back to a comfortable, peaceful equilibrium.

Ever feel like your body’s thermostat is broken? 🔥

In Traditional Chinese Medicine menopause isn’t just “hormones” it’s a shift in your internal landscape.

We often see women struggling with these common pain points:
The Internal Heat: Sudden hot flashes and night sweats that leave you exhausted.

The Mental Fog: Forgetting names or losing your train of thought mid sentence.

The Digestive Shift: Bloating and “thick” feeling in the midsection even when you eat well.

The Skin and Hair Drought: Loss of moisture and luster that leaves you feeling unlike yourself.

When our Spleen Qi weakens our Liver gets congested and our Yin (cooling fluids) dries up. I’ve curated the “Second Spring” Trio to tackle these signals from the inside out:

🌿 LB-30: Strengthens your “Middle Burner” (Spleen) to banish bloat and boost immunity.
🧠 PhosChol 565: Softens the Liver and clears the “marrow” to end the brain fog.
🌸 Borage Seed Oil: The ultimate Yin nourisher to cool the heat and keep your skin glowing.

Balance isn’t just possible it’s your right. 🕊️
