Some men with prostate cancer have had prior surgery or radiotherapy, but then have limited cancer recurrence. In these cases, targeted radiation called stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) is highly effective in eradicating the visible disease. POPSTARII study is sponsored by Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre investigating the role of targeted radiotherapy alone or combined with 2 cycles of targeted radionuclide therapy (Lu-PSMA) in men with limited sites of metastatic prostate cancer. Lu-PSMA is new form of liquid radiation that targets prostate cancer through the bloodstream. This is an open label, randomised clinical trial recruiting 92 patients. Patients with oligometastatic prostate cancer (where the cancer has spread to 1-5 sites outside of the prostate) will be randomised to either stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) alone or SABR plus 2 cycles of Lu-PSMA.
