It hits differently in perimenopause ☕️ but doesn’t mean you have to cut it out! It’s all about timing ⏱️

Heavier periods. Exhausted all the time. And your bloods came back “normal.” 🩸

These two things are often connected, but it’s worth ruling out other causes too.

Every heavy cycle draws down your iron stores. In perimenopause, when periods often get heavier, that adds up month after month. Low iron can then make bleeding heavier again. It’s a loop.

Most labs flag ferritin over 30 as normal. But normal isn’t the same as optimal. Scraping in at 34 isn’t where most women feel like themselves again.

Fixing it properly means two things at once:
🩸Rebuilding iron in a form your body can actually absorb
🩸Working out why the bleeding is heavy in the first place

Otherwise you’re bailing water out of a leaking boat.

Comment ENERGY and I’ll send you my practitioner checklist, including why you need full iron studies (not just ferritin) and the other tests worth asking for 🤎

Every week in clinic my top 5 questions asked from my 38 plus ladies & where I would start 🧱it’s the absolute foundation, then it’s all builds form there 🤎

Most women I see aren’t doing anything wrong. They’re doing what used to work. But your body is changing, and what worked at 35 often stops working in perimenopause 🤎

Comment BALANCE and I’ll send you my perimenopause symptom and cycle tracker 💃

Bloated all the time?

Your gut changes as you get older. As oestrogen starts to fluctuate in perimenopause, your gut bacteria shift with it. Fewer of the right bacteria means food sits and ferments, and some of those same bacteria help recycle oestrogen. So your gut and your hormones are pulling on each other.

That’s why another cleanse or another expensive probiotic often doesn’t touch it.

Where to start:
🍠 Cooked veg over raw while your gut is struggling
🌿 Herbs, spices and colourful plants, aiming for 30 different plants a week
🍽️ Eating away from your screen, so your body can actually digest

Comment BLOATED and I’ll send you my Gut-Hormone Connection guide 🤎

For years it absorbed the late nights, the exhaustion, the skipped meals and the “I’m fine”. Now the buffer is gone.
You’re not falling apart. You’re being asked to stop running on empty. 🤎

Painkillers in every bag ✔️
Day one = cancelled plans ✔️
That one breakout that shows up like clockwork ✔️

If this is you, your cycle is trying to tell you something. Painful, unpredictable periods are common, but they’re not normal. Gut health, inflammation and hormones are usually behind it.

Follow for weekly cycle answers, and tag the friend who always cancels on day one. 🤎

Heavy bleeding isn’t something you just put up with
🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸

Soaking through protection every hour or two, passing large clots, or planning your day around your period? That’s flooding, and it deserves a proper look.

In a 12-minute GP appointment, name it as flooding and ask for:

1. A check for fibroids or polyps
2. Full iron studies, including ferritin
3. Thyroid testing
4. A clear plan before you leave

Always get a copy of your results. “Normal” isn’t always optimal.

Naturopathy looks at the bigger picture: oestrogen clearance, progesterone, stress, gut and liver health. We address the cause, support a lighter flow and rebuild what heavy periods have taken.

It was actually 3.17am and my heart was racing but my cycle still regular. For me, that was the start of perimenopause.

Symptoms can begin years before your periods change. The window most often missed is 38 to 42.

If something has felt off for months, you’re not imagining it 🤎
