AFLW season is back! 🏉💪

A strong season starts with preparing your body for the demands of the game — not just reacting when something goes wrong.

A good injury prevention program should be part of your season preparation, with a focus on:

💪 Strength — building the capacity to handle the demands of the game

🦵 Landing mechanics — improving control, stability and movement quality

🏉 Sport-specific skills — preparing your body for the cutting, jumping, accelerating and decelerating that AFLW demands

And you don’t have to work it out alone. Physios can help identify individual risk factors, build a targeted program and progress exercises as your training and competition demands change.

Invest in your body now, so you can spend more time doing what you love — playing footy. ❤️

Learning never stops. 👟📖

Our physio team recently spent the day learning from our clinical mentor, Jay Anderson at Melbourne Sports Physio, exploring the latest evidence and practical approaches to running assessment and rehabilitation.

Jay also serves as Head Physiotherapist at Essendon Football Club, bringing a wealth of elite sports experience and clinical expertise to every session.

Topics included:
🏃 Running biomechanics and gait analysis
🦵 Comprehensive running assessments
📋 Clinical reasoning for common running injuries
💪 Evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation strategies
🎯 Exercise prescription and return-to-running principles

Great physios are lifelong learners, and we’re committed to continually growing our knowledge to deliver the best outcomes for every patient.

Thanks for another fantastic session, Jay!

Are You at Risk of a Bone Stress Injury? 🏃‍♂️ 🦴

Bone stress injuries don’t happen overnight—they build over time.

If you’re training through ni**les, it’s worth knowing the common risk factors that can increase your chance of a bone stress injury:

⚠️ Rapid increases in training load
⚠️ Poor recovery between sessions
⚠️ Not taking regular rest days
⚠️ A previous bone stress injury
⚠️ Poor foot mechanics that increase stress on certain bones

The good news? Many of these risk factors can be identified and managed early.

If you’re experiencing persistent pain with running, jumping, or sport, don’t ignore it. A physiotherapy assessment can help identify the cause, optimise your training, and keep you moving.

📍Book an appointment with our team to stay ahead of injury.
