More Than Menopause

Last night we brought together GPs and health professionals for our More Than Menopause education evening at Newcastle Yacht Club.

We heard from Dr Angela Dunford, Dr Matthew Holland and guest speaker Dr Geoff Otton, who each shared their expertise and insights across the evening.

The evening was chaired by Dr Erin Fuller, with plenty of great discussion and questions throughout.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us — we hope you took away some useful information to put into practice in your day-to-day care of patients.

Today we celebrate a very special milestone - Dianne's 25th work anniversary with Genea (formerly Sydney IVF).

Dianne has worked within Lingard hospital for 40 years, and we are grateful for everything she has contributed and for the many colleagues, patients and teams she has supported throughout her career in biochemistry, andrology and quality management.

Dianne’s experience and knowledge are invaluable to our Newcastle laboratory, spanning biochemistry, pathology, andrology, staff training and our s***m donation program.

She has also played a key role in our quality management system, helping ensure our laboratory practices consistently meet ISO and NATA requirements.

Her incredible attention to detail and commitment to quality have made a lasting impact on both our laboratory and the work we do.

Thank you Dianne, for all your hard work and dedication over the years. Congratulations on this wonderful achievement!!

Meet Beau — born in May, and once a tiny day 5 embryo.

Now he’s sitting beside a painting of that very embryo. A pretty amazing little comparison. ✨

Thinking about becoming a mum on your own terms? For many single women, finding the right s***m donor is one of the first big steps on that path, and it's completely normal to have questions.

Genea Fertility's donor coordinators are there to support you through key parts of the journey: understanding clinic-recruited vs known donors, the legal and counselling requirements involved, and matching based on the traits that matter most to you.

Every journey looks different, and how long it takes to find the right donor can vary widely from person to person. Wherever you're at in that process, you'll have a dedicated donor coordinator and professional counselling support to guide you.

Putting patients at the centre of every decision

Dr Myvanwy McIlveen talks about the important role nurses play in advocating for patients and how informed choice helps guide decisions throughout a fertility journey.

She also discusses how technology, including the Geri time-lapse IVF incubator, can help patients stay connected to their embryo’s development throughout treatment.

Watch the video to hear Dr McIlveen’s perspective on patient care, informed choice and the role of technology in IVF.

After four days of learning, connecting and sharing ideas at the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) Conference in Canberra, our Clinic Manager Lisa and nurse Amelia wrapped up the conference with dinner.

The annual conference brings together fertility specialists, nurses, embryologists, scientists, counsellors and other professionals from across Australia and New Zealand to share the latest research, advances and ideas in reproductive medicine and fertility care.

It’s a great opportunity for our team to stay up to date with developments in the field and bring new knowledge and ideas back to our patients here at Genea Newcastle.

A busy four days, but a valuable one!
