The concept of ‘dharma’ has been considered for centuries. It is broadly understood to mean conducting yourself in a way that aligns with universal truths (eg non violence, compassion, harmony); and respects your specific role in the world.

But what does it mean for us today? Given the fast pace and juggle of contemporary life, do you even have time to consider the broader philosophical aspects of how we live this life?

Take time out this Sunday and join Valerie Fimat-Faneco who is visiting from Perth, to open up to consider a broader context for your actions in everyday life.

And Friday continued…

- Pelvic floor function and common dysfunctions
- Breath, pressure and core connection
- Posture, hips and low back relationship
- Menopause and pelvic health considerations
- Yoga and movement strategies for support and recovery
- Strengthening and relaxation techniques

This workshop includes discussion, education and a gentle guided practice.

Workshop 3: 2.30-4.30pm | Why we keep coming back to yoga with Dani Pritchard

Why do we keep returning to yoga? Beyond movement and posture, yoga offers a living relationship with breath, attention, body, mind and the deeper Self.
Rooted in the teachings of Krishnamacharya and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, this workshop explores yoga as a mirror through which we begin to see ourselves more clearly.
Reflecting on the ways practice shapes our relationship with ourselves, others, and life itself, this session weaves together philosophical exploration with a 45min breath-led bhavana practice, inviting attentiveness, steadiness and deep inner listening.

Sunset practice: 5-6pm. We will conclude with a sunset practice daily.

The Heart of Yoga long weekend honours the legacy of Desikachar’s teachings and his mentorship of Agama’s Barb Brian for over 20 yrs. His impact on yoga around the world is especially remembered on International Yoga day, his birthday and the winter solstice on 21st June, our final day of the HOY weekend.

We’re super excited this year as we have a full weekend of practices and workshops. Each day begins with a Sunrise practice at 6.30am, then the workshops commence. FRIDAY’s TIMETABLE:

Workshop 1: 8.30-10.30am | Strengthening for 50+ with Geetha Soosay

The workshop will be designed to give adults in the around 50 plus age group information on building strength through movement and what they can do in addition to yoga to build a strong body. This session combines principles from yoga along with functional strength training to support healthy ageing, balance, posture and joint health.

We will explore:
- strength training for longevity
- mobility, balance and coordination
- bone, joint and muscle health
- safe progression for different abilities
- a practice incorporating yoga and functional movement

Suitable for all levels.
