Cervical Screening has changed — and if you've been putting it off, now's a good time to check when you're due.

The renewed Cervical Screening Test (replacing the old Pap Smear) is recommended every 5 years for women aged 25–74. All cervical screening participants now have the choice to self-collect their own Cervical Screening Test sample. A self-collected sample is taken from the va**na and is checked for human papillomavirus (HPV) – a common infection that causes almost all cervical cancers. Self-collection is not suitable if you are experiencing symptoms such as unusual bleeding, pain or discharge.

It's that time of year — and we know it can be hard to know when to push through and when to come in.

Here's a simple guide: if symptoms are mild and improving, rest up and stay hydrated. But if your fever is high, you're not getting better after 5 days, or you have any concerns at all — please come and see us. That's what we're here for.

And if you haven't had your flu vaccine yet, it's not too late.

Some of the most meaningful moments in general practice are the ones that can’t be measured.

This beautiful drawing was given to Dr Travis by one of his seven-year-old patients, with the heartfelt message:

“Hi my old friend... unfortunately I’m a lot sick so can you help me get better and tell my mum I need a puffer.”

It was a simple card, but it sparked a special realisation – Dr Travis has been caring for this little patient since the day she was born.
These are the relationships that make family medicine so rewarding. Growing alongside families, earning their trust, and being there through every stage of life is a privilege we never take for granted.

Thank you to all of our wonderful patients for allowing us to be part of your family’s story. ❤️
