A huge thank you to to everyone who walked with us today for the World Walk Against Dementia. We had 92 registered walkers who paved the footpaths of Millicent in a sea of purple to help recognise those living with Dementia.

We especially recognise the families and staff members that helped pushed wheelchairs so our Residents could be apart of the walk.

We are incredibly grateful to the Millicent Lions club for cooking us a BBQ after we built up an appetite. Thank you also to Drakes Supermarket for donating the sausages and to Debs dad Keith for driving the support bus.

Finally thank you to Deb, Rick, Kaitlyn, James and Olivia from the Lifestyle team for organising such a successful event.

Thank you all for coming and for letting people who have dementia know we have their back!

We would like to invite all members of our community to walk with our residents and staff for the World Walks against Dementia 2026.

It is a fitting day to commemorate Fathers Day whilst walking for those who have dementia or help with their care and support.

We hope to see you this Sunday, September the 6th in the Boneham main car park at 10:30am. Remember to wear something Purple and some comfy walking shoes.

Parking is available on site or in the Community Church car park opposite Boneham.

After the walk our wonderful friends at the Millicent Lions are cooking a sausage sizzle with Drakes supermarkets providing the sausages so please stay on for a bite to eat.

We look forward to seeing many of you on Sunday!

Today was all about celebrating the heart of Boneham! 💙🍰

To our incredible staff - nurses, carers, lifestyle team, allied health, kitchen, cleaners, laundry, maintenance, administrative and our trainee teams - HAPPY AGED CARE EMPLOYEE DAY!

Our Wellbeing Team was delighted to host a special morning tea today to pause, celebrate, and say a massive "Thank You!" for the endless patience, compassion, and warmth you bring every single day. (And a congratulations to our trainees on their upcoming graduations!)

We have some photos from the morning’s celebration and our official "Thank You" poster attached. Please know how valued you are, not just today, but every day.

Tomorrow, Friday 7th of August, is Aged Care Employee Day for 2026.

It is a day where we celebrate the care, compassion, expertise and support our staff provide to our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

At Boneham we have a team of 197 people (at our latest count).

There are those that you see each day caring for residents directly such as Registered and Enrolled Nurses and Personal Care Attendants.

There are those who keep our residents mobile, engaged and active within our community and outside our walls with the broader community such as lifestyle, allied health, physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams.

Then there are the "behind the scenes" workers who you may not regularly meet that provide residents with a clean environment, superb home cooked meals and treats, clean clothing and well maintained equipment and rooms.

Tying them all together are reception, admin and management staff who ensure services are planned, that staff and contractors are paid and that the inevitable mountain of paperwork is duly sorted.

Finally there are the most wonderful group of volunteers who work across all of our teams to provide social, spritual, physical and moral support to our residents and our staff and provide us with guidance as our Board members.

I am proud to say that I work at Boneham alongside all 197 of these people. They are, in my opinion, the most outstanding aged care team that an organisation could hope to have.

I will celebrate with them all tomorrow and I encourage those who share the day with us on Friday 7th August to also recognise them for their efforts.

Thank you Boneham team!

Dear Residents and Representatives

We are pleased to provide an update for the community on our new Memory Support Wing which is now at the design phase of the project.

Our architects, Walter Brooke Architects, have completed preliminary drawings which we have been workshopping over the last few weeks with staff, residents and family members. We are close to instructing the architects to proceed to final designs which will then allow them to work with quantity surveyors to prepare a tender document for selection of a builder.

In the interim, the land has been a flurry of activity with a range of surveys being undertaken to inform the building design and construction.

At this stage we believe we remain on target to commence building works early in 2027.

We hosted an inaugural meeting of a new Millicent Dementia Support Group in our on site café yesterday. The event was well attended by people with family members experiencing dementia and by interested and supportive community members. Developing this support group continues to be an ongoing aim for Boneham to help demystify this disorder which impacts our community so broadly and to help our community develop a network of support for those with dementia and their family and friends. Please feel free to contact our Dementia Specialist Nurse, Theresa Connor, if you would like more details on this support group which will meet monthly at Boneham moving forward.

In a small housekeeping matter, could we please remind family members who take residents out for the day to let our staff know when you have returned to Boneham? On the rare occasion this doesn’t happen we are at risk of missing a resident’s meal or medication round so it is important for us to know they are back on-site.

Finally, next Friday, the 7th of August is Aged Care Workers Day. This day celebrates all of our workers, the nurses, the carers, the cooks and cleaners, laundry workers, maintenance and admin staff, the allied health and lifestyle staff. It is a day we rightly celebrate each year and reflect on how fortunate we are to have such a wonderful team of caring workers at Boneham. If you are on-site next Friday, please join with us to say hello to our team and perhaps let them know they are appreciated for their care.

Kind regards

Stewart Blyth
Interim Chief Executive Officer

Today we would like to thank the men of the Millicent Men's Shed and John Hamil for creating these wonderful "fidget" boards for our residents.

Fidget boards have every day items attached to them that allow people to play with a lock, turn on a light switch, open a slide bolt etc. This provides a connection to their past, promotes discussion and reminiscence and gives them an outlet when their hands get "busy".

It is a wonderful resource for people with dementia and especially for men, who are often the "handy" people working with those types of everyday items in their lives.

A huge thank you to John and the Millicent Men's Shed group for creating these for our residents!

Next week our Dementia Specialist nurse, Theresa Connor, will be hosting our first Dementia Support group meeting in our on-site cafe.

We recognise that living with dementia can be a challenge for both the person and their closest family and friends and can lead to isolation from community and local supports.

We are here to help you gain more information on the causes, management and strategies for living with a dementia diagnosis in a very informal gathering over a hot cup of good coffee and a nice snack.

The support group is planning to meet monthly on the last Wednesday of each month, commencing next week.

Please join us if this is of interest to you and please let others you know may have an interest know they are welcome to join us from 1pm on Wednesday 29th of July in our cafe (entry through our main reception on Williams Road). Full details are in the attached leaflet.

Today our Boneham Wellbeing team have declared it Winter Warmer Day. Our staff have been encouraged to bring in items of food for donation to local homelessness charities whilst wearing their warmest winter gear.

Residents and staff are having a lovely warm day as a result!

We are grateful to have staff members who take time care for those outside of our service suffering from homelessness whilst they are providing daily care services for our residents.

Thank you team!
