One year ago today, Wisdom From the Widowed entered the world.

Aisling and I wrote it for the person we each were in 2006 - widowed, lost, and desperate for something that told the truth about grief. Not a five-step plan. Not toxic positivity. The real thing.

A year on, it's reaching people we will never meet, in places we never imagined. That is everything.

To celebrate, we've launched a dedicated page for the book, a community space for widowed people and those walking alongside them, grounded in continuing bonds and a holistic approach to grief.

If this resonates with you, or someone you know needs it come and find us at Wisdom From The Widowed Facebook and Instagram.

Exciting news, the Wisdom From the Widowed page is live. A community space for widowed people and those who support them, grounded in continuing bonds and a holistic approach to grief. If you know someone who needs this, please share it with them.

We started this page one year on from the launch of Wisdom From the Widowed, and we want to tell you exactly why.

Not to sell you a book. Not to give you a five-step plan for grief. But because after nearly two decades of sitting with widowed people in support groups, in counselling rooms, in online forums at midnight, we know what's missing.

That grief is not a problem to be solved. That your love didn't end when they died. That the signs you're receiving are real. That you are not broken but you are becoming someone new, whether you chose this or not.

This page is for widowed people, and for anyone who loves one. We'll share insights from our book, from our practice, and from the hundreds of people who have trusted us with their stories over the years.

We're Maria and Aisling. We lost our husbands in 2006, months apart. We found each other, and then we found our purpose.

We're glad you're here x

What to expect after an energy session with me

As children, we absorb far more than we realise.

The fears, beliefs, insecurities, and stories of the people who raised us often become the lens through which we see ourselves and the world. Fear of being judged. Fear of being seen. Fear of being too much, or not enough.

But at some point, we have to stop and ask:

Are these beliefs actually mine?

Or have I simply carried them for so long that they’ve started to feel like my own?

Growth isn’t just about learning new things. It’s also about questioning what you’ve inherited.

Because the moment you begin to separate your truth from someone else’s fear, you create space to become who you really are.

Self-love is not selfish.

For many people, a lack of self-love didn’t begin with them. It can stem from childhood experiences, conditioning, or simply never being shown what a healthy connection to self looks like.

Learning to connect with yourself, listen to yourself, and value yourself is not selfish. It’s the foundation of every relationship you’ll ever have, including the one with yourself.

Connecting to self-love looks different for every person.

For some, it’s learning to rest without guilt. For others, it’s setting boundaries, speaking their truth, nourishing their body, or finally choosing themselves after years of putting everyone else first.

Self-love isn’t one thing. It’s the small daily moments that bring you back to yourself.
