Our Level 1 Mindfulness Teacher Training teaches you how to confidently deliver mindfulness and wellbeing lessons to children aged 0–6 years, 7–12 years, and teenagers, while also helping you develop your own personal mindfulness practice.

The course is completed online over 8 weeks, with approximately 2–3 hours of study per week. During this time you'll gradually integrate mindfulness into your own daily life, because we believe the most effective mindfulness teachers are those who embody the practice themselves.

As you learn the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, you'll also discover the KOTUS Method—a practical framework that teaches you how to align your thoughts, emotions, and instincts, creating a clear inner compass for wiser decision-making and greater wellbeing.

Throughout the course, you'll explore a range of scientific perspectives that deepen our understanding of the interconnected nature of life. Drawing from psychology, neuroscience, biology, physics, and systems thinking, you'll discover different ways of understanding the profound interconnectedness that exists within ourselves, with one another, and with the natural world.

For educators, the course also demonstrates how mindfulness experiences can be meaningfully integrated into everyday practice and linked to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), making it easy to intentionally support children's wellbeing, emotional regulation, self-awareness, and social-emotional development.

Your training includes:

*Over 30 video lessons and guided meditations
*A comprehensive 60-page downloadable workbook
*Personalised feedback on six practical assignments that are enjoyable to complete
*Lessons for delivering mindful movement through somatic awareness
*A private one-on-one mentoring session with me at the completion of your training, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, consolidate your learning, and explore any concepts in greater depth

3. Mindfulness, Wellbeing and Movement

Sometimes suffering isn't caused by desire itself, but by forgetting what truly matters. The KOTUS Method invites us to bring mind, heart, and gut back into alignment. 🙏

Suffering begins when the mind, heart, and gut become divided and we forget what we truly long for.

The Sage seeks truth.
The Lover seeks connection.
The Warrior seeks purpose.

Peace is not found by eliminating desire.

Peace is found when our desires become aligned.

✨ Mind. Heart. Gut. One.

Another common rendering is:

"It is quite impossible to unite happiness with a yearning for what we don't have. Happiness has all that it wants, and resembling the well-fed, there shouldn't be hunger or thirst."

The idea behind the passage is central to Epictetus' Stoicism. Happiness (eudaimonia) is not something postponed until we acquire more possessions, achievements, or circumstances. If our peace depends on what is absent, then we remain in a state of lack. A truly happy person is like someone who has eaten well—there is no desperate craving because nothing essential is missing.

In the wider context, Epictetus is arguing that suffering comes from demanding the impossible: wanting external things, people, or situations to conform to our wishes. Freedom and happiness come from aligning desire with what is within our control. As he continues:

"To reach out for the impossible is slavish and foolish; it is acting like a stranger in the universe, one who is fighting against God with the only weapons at his command, his own judgements."

There is an interesting resonance here with both Stoicism and contemplative traditions: happiness is not the satisfaction of endless desire, but the absence of the sense that something essential is lacking.

An interesting perspective on life by Alan Watts, in his last interview. His views on not taking life too seriously, but rather to living life like your playing a game; and nothingness (no consciousness) before life (which I don't agree with since some people can remember being in a conscious form before this life); and his argument that Ghandi was a violent man due to his movement creating a new nation (which in fact lead to the creation of not just India but later Pakistan) causing much unrest and division through breaking away from British rule.
Note: Alan Watts heavy smoking and drinking habits significantly contributed to his death at 58 from heart failure.
