Meet the people who keep My Therapy House organised and running behind the scenes: Isabela and Christie.

A strong therapy team needs a strong admin team behind them, especially when working within the highly regulated world of NDIS, Medicare, private health insurance, documentation and quality assurance.

Isabela is the face and voice of My Therapy House. She makes sure our schedules are organised, appointments are coordinated, documents get to where they need to go, and families know what is happening.

When you call My Therapy House and hear a beautiful Brazilian accent on the other end of the phone, you know you are speaking with Isabela.

Before joining us, Isabela owned her own business in Brazil, so she understands what it takes to look after people, juggle many moving parts, solve problems and keep things moving. She brings warmth, organisation and a genuine care for our families to everything she does.

Christie is our behind-the-scenes systems person. She makes sure the many systems that support My Therapy House actually work. She works through the complex problems, supports our therapy team, keeps an eye on the details and somehow manages to make sense of all the things the rest of us would rather not think about!

She is also our tech-savvy problem solver. Right now, Christie is leading the enormous job of moving My Therapy House to a new client management system. We have used our current system for more than 10 years, so there is a LOT happening behind the scenes to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible.

Christie also coordinates our quality assurance processes, ensuring our systems, procedures and documentation remain current and that we continue to meet the requirements of the different organisations and funding systems we work within.

Isabela keeps the front of My Therapy House moving. Christie keeps the back of My Therapy House moving.

Together, they make a pretty formidable admin team.

We genuinely would be lost without them.

YOU’RE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE MY PEACE — A MOTHER’S STORY | EPISODE 2 🤍

Last week, we introduced you to Sam and her family.

This week on The Empowered Parent Podcast, we explore Sam before motherhood — and the woman she’s becoming now.

Before children, Sam was a full-time nurse who was always on the go. Rest felt uncomfortable, slowing down felt like failure, and keeping busy became part of how she coped.

Then she became a mum.

And motherhood changed everything.

We talk about identity, matrescence, the go, go, go energy, learning to recognise her capacity, and finding space for herself while becoming someone new.

Because motherhood doesn’t just change your routine.

It can change who you are.

🎧 Listen to Episode 2: What If Rest Is Part of Parenting? with Sam on your favourite podcast app or via this link https://www.buzzsprout.com/2301054/episodes/19641235

We all make a difference in this world. 🤍

Part 2 of our 6-part series. More of Sam’s story coming next week.

Sam was a full-time nurse who couldn’t stop moving, couldn’t sit with herself, and felt like rest meant failure. Then she became a mum and everything changed, not neatly, not politely, but in the way matrescence often does: it cracks you open and ...

If you work with children, or you’re the parent of a child who is non-speaking or communicates differently, this is a conversation worth listening to.

One of the biggest shifts Michele Ricamato has given our team is understanding that communication isn’t defined by spoken words alone. When we change the way we see communication, we change the way we support children.

That’s exactly why we’re bringing Michele to Adelaide this November for two immersive days of learning, discussion and practical strategies that you can take straight back into your work, your classroom or your home.

This event is perfect for speech pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, teachers, educators, early childhood professionals, OSHC staff, NDIS providers and parents who want to better understand children who are non-speaking or communicate differently.
This event will not be recorded, so the only way to experience the training, ask questions and be part of the discussion is to join us in person.

To secure your ticket, visit our website or use the link in our bio. Group bookings are also available for teams, schools and organisations.

At My Therapy House, relationships can develop in ways we don't always expect.

In this video, Sam and Liliana share their experiences. Their children attend My Therapy House individually and also have sessions together.

Through those shared experiences, something lovely has happened.

Their children have formed a friendship, and so have their mums.

For us, supporting a child isn't only about what happens between a child and their therapist.

Children need opportunities to connect with other children, to discover shared interests, play together and experience what friendship can look like in their own way.

And parents need connection too.

Having another parent who understands some of the joys, challenges and experiences of raising a neurodivergent child can be incredibly valuable.

At My Therapy House, we want to create opportunities for children and parents to find their people.

Because sometimes therapy creates something much bigger than the goals we originally set.

It creates relationships.

There is a place in the world for everyone.

I was out today showing some international grandparents around beautiful Adelaide when we had the privilege of seeing this.

A mama koala carrying her tiny baby on her back.

For now, this little one doesn't need to venture far. There is plenty of time for that.

Right now, the safest place is close to mum, being carried along while taking in the world.

Sometimes our little ones just need us to be their safe place while they watch, experience and learn.

What a very special Adelaide moment.

I feel very blessed to have Maria and Nikita as the Speech Pathologists at My Therapy House.

Although I no longer work directly with children and families, I am still very much there in the background, supporting our therapists through mentoring, reflection, problem solving and those conversations that help us see a child or situation a little differently.

After many years as a Speech Pathologist, I love being able to share what I have learned with other therapists, particularly around neurodivergent children, developmental communication, DIR Floortime, parent coaching, PDA, regulation, complex presentations and building confidence as a clinician.

Sometimes mentoring is not about being given the answer. It is having someone alongside you who can help you think more deeply, trust what you are noticing and work out what to try next.

If you are a Speech Pathologist who would like some mentoring, whether you are a new graduate, an experienced therapist working through a complex situation, or someone wanting to develop a more developmental and neuro affirming approach, please reach out.

I would love to support you.

What is Developmental Speech Pathology?

When people hear "Speech Pathology", they often think about teaching a child to say words or pronounce sounds.

But communication development starts long before words.

At My Therapy House, our Speech Pathologists take a developmental approach.

Before expecting a child to talk, answer questions, follow instructions or have conversations, we look at the foundations underneath communication.

Can the child feel safe and regulated with another person?

Can they notice us and become interested in what we are doing?

Can we join their play rather than always asking them to join ours?

Can we share an experience together?

Can we have little back-and-forth interactions, with or without words?

Can the child communicate their ideas, wants, feelings and intentions in their own way?

This is why you might see our Speech Pathologists on the floor, swinging, running outside, playing with cars, following a child's interests or simply waiting and watching.

We are not doing "less therapy".

We are working on the developmental foundations that communication grows from.

And we don't force eye contact, sitting still or a particular way of communicating.

We look at the individual child and ask:

Where are they developmentally? What are they showing us? And what is the next achievable step?

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is stop trying so hard to get a child to communicate with us and start discovering how to connect with them.

Because communication is so much more than talking.

Connection first. Communication grows from there.
