The Restore Winter Edit with Dr Ellie 🤍

Over the next few months, we'll be sharing a little glimpse into what our team is reading, listening to, cooking and doing to make the most of winter. This week, it's Dr Ellie's turn!

From parenting books and good fiction, to protein sweet potato brownies and finding ways to keep moving during the cooler months, these are a few things she's currently enjoying.

Now we'd love to hear from you! What's one thing you're reading, cooking, watching or doing this winter? ❄️

Some of our favourite moments in practice are hearing about the little wins families notice along the way.

These are the moments that remind us progress doesn’t always have to be dramatic. Often, it’s the small changes that make everyday life feel a little easier.

We’re so grateful to be part of your family’s journey 🤍

This one is for the dads. The dads who keep showing up, working hard, supporting their families, and often putting themselves at the bottom of the priority list.

We hear it all the time... "When can I get my husband in?" 🤎

Many dads spend their time looking after everyone else that they stop noticing how tired, stressed, or run down they are feeling.

If your partner or kids are already under care with us, consider this your reminder that your health matters too!

Looking after yourself is not about taking time away from your family. It's about having the energy, resilience, and capacity to keep showing up for them.

So Dad, this one's for you.

And if you're reading this and immediately thought of someone, send it their way 🤍

Appointments are available in both Moama and Kyabram via the link in our bio.

When a child is struggling, it can be tempting to look for one cause, one answer, or one thing to fix.

In reality, children's health is often shaped by many experiences over time.

At Restore, we often talk about the Perfect Storm. The idea that stressors throughout pregnancy, birth, childhood, and everyday life can accumulate and influence how a child's nervous system adapts and responds.

That is why we believe it is important to understand the bigger picture.

Have you ever been told that everything looks "normal", yet you still feel like something isn't quite right for your child?

Many families navigating challenges such as fatigue, dizziness, sleep difficulties, digestive concerns, sensory overwhelm or difficulties regulating emotions can find themselves searching for answers.

One condition that is becoming increasingly recognised is dysautonomia, which affects the autonomic nervous system, the part of the nervous system responsible for many of the body's automatic functions.

In our latest blog, we explore what dysautonomia is, some of the common signs and symptoms, and why understanding the nervous system can be an important part of the conversation.

Have you ever felt like your child's challenges are all connected, but you're not quite sure how?

Maybe you're navigating sleep struggles, sensory overwhelm, big emotions, difficulties with focus and attention, and that constant feeling that they're stuck in survival mode.

At Restore, we often talk about something called The Perfect Storm.

The Perfect Storm is a way of understanding how experiences throughout pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood may influence a child's developing nervous system and their ability to adapt to stress.

It's not about finding one cause or placing blame, it's about looking at the bigger picture and understanding your child's unique story.

The Perfect Storm offers a different way of looking at a child's story. Rather than focusing on one event or one explanation, it explores how experiences throughout pregnancy, birth and early childhood may influence the way a developing nervous system adapts to stress.

For many families, this conversation brings relief. Not because it provides a simple answer, but because it helps them see that their child's journey is often much bigger than a single moment in time.

If you're raising a child with ADHD, Autism, sensory challenges, emotional dysregulation or focus difficulties, and you've ever wished someone would help you connect the dots, this workshop is for you.

From better sleep and easier digestion to improved focus, movement and emotional regulation, we're always encouraged to hear how a more regulated nervous system can support everyday life.
