The average Australian employee stays in a job for approximately 3.3 years. But that length of time is merely a drop in the ocean of Leanne Maskiell’s career.
Leanne has been part of the team at Latrobe Community Health Service since the late 1970s. She began as a trainee dental assistant at our Churchill site, before taking on a number of other roles.
She spent time as a medical receptionist, OH&S coordinator, executive assistant, as well as doing dental administration. Today, Leanne leads the team at the Latrobe Urgent Care Clinic (UCC).
In her role, Leanne manages a lot of administrative tasks like rosters, reception duties, clinic orders, reports, and billing. But what she loves most is helping people in the Latrobe Valley access the care they need.
“Things have definitely changed over the years, with new systems and government requirements. It’s not always easy, but that’s what keeps it interesting,” Leanne says.
Her 41-year career has included time off to raise two daughters. Now, she’s ‘Nanny Leanne’ to four beautiful grandchildren.
When she’s not at work, Leanne enjoys live music, walking, and volunteering each year at Race Week in Airlie Beach.
Leanne is proud to work with a team that helps everyone in the community; especially people without Medicare, those who are new to the area, or anyone who doesn’t know where to get the right medical care.
“I really enjoy my role and the people I work with; my colleagues have become my friends over time.”
