Exercise snacking 💫👍🏼
The best home programme isn’t necessarily the most comprehensive one; it’s the one you actually practise.
So that means small, frequent bits.
* A few pelvic floor contractions while the kettle boils or brushing your teeth
* Three slow breaths and a conscious pelvic floor release before using the toilet
* One minute of hip movement after sitting at your desk and unwinding the nervous system
* Practising ideal toileting positions every time you open your bowels (foot stool under feet, soft belly, lean forward and breathe),
* Relaxing your pelvic floor and belly before you go to bed
* A little bit of graded exposure regularly rather than one big overwhelming session.
There’s growing research on “exercise snacking”—using short, regular bouts of movement instead of relying solely on longer sessions. This research suggests these small bursts can still lead to meaningful improvements in pelvic health function and adherence is often very good.
Of course, there are times when longer sessions and sufficient training load are needed. However, particularly in pelvic health, we’re not always just training muscle. We are working on small parts, often. 🫶🏻
