Megan and I recently visited City Cave Mona Vale to try their infrared sauna, and we thought it was the perfect chance to share a few simple stretches you can do during your session.

Infrared sauna sessions at City Cave are 45 minutes, so we’d suggest using the first 20 minutes to simply settle in, breathe, warm up and allow your body to relax.

Then, around the 20-minute mark, you could try:

Seated upper trap stretch
Hold for 60 seconds each side.
Seated figure 4 stretch
Hold for 60 seconds each side.
Forward fold stretch
Hold for 60 seconds.
The goal isn’t to force the stretch or push for maximum range. In the sauna, your body is already warm, so keep each stretch gentle, slow and comfortable. Think of it as giving your nervous system a chance to downshift, your muscles a chance to relax, and your body a bit of quiet recovery time.

After stretching, use the rest of the session to sit back, breathe, rehydrate afterwards and enjoy the reset.

City Cave Mona Vale have also kindly shared a referral offer for the Pittwater Chiro community. Book online using our referral link and receive $10 off when you spend over $45.

Link in stories today, or DM us “CITY CAVE” and we’ll send it through.

Thanks to Rick and the team at City Cave Mona Vale for having us.

Stretching every day but still feeling stiff?

It can be frustrating when you’re doing the “right” thing, but your body keeps tightening back up.

Sometimes the answer isn’t more stretching.

Your body might need better hydration, more recovery, a calmer nervous system, or more strength through the range you already have.

Stretching can still help, but it often works best when it’s part of the bigger picture.

Our chiropractor, Megan has written a blog explaining why stretching might not be helping your tight muscles, and what to focus on instead.

“I threw my back out changing the sheets.”

Sometimes it really does feel like one small movement caused the whole problem.

But often, that moment is just the final straw.

Poor sleep, stress, less movement, dehydration, lots of sitting, low-quality food, and not enough time to recharge can all leave your body feeling more sensitive, more guarded, and less resilient.

So yes, changing the sheets may have been the moment you felt it.

But your body may have been asking for help for a while.

Pain is rarely just about one movement.

It’s often the result of what your body has been trying to cope with in the background.

UTA11 was amazing!
Last Thursday, Todd and I completed our first trail running event — and what an experience.

The course was absolutely beautiful: mountains, valleys, waterfalls, muddy skinny trails, and some seriously cooked legs by the end.

One of the things I loved most was the atmosphere. Everyone was so lovely and polite, even when squeezing past on the narrow muddy paths.

I think that’s why I’m falling in love with trail running — you’re out in nature, focused on where your feet are landing, and somehow thinking less about how tired you are.

The nearly 1,000 stairs in the final kilometre were definitely a challenge, especially after all the downhill, but knowing we were near the end helped!

So special to complete it with friends and my husband.

Onto next year… UTA22!

Last hill session before UTA11 🏃‍♂️⛰️

Hills and stairs are such a good way to prepare your body for elevation because they build leg strength, improve climbing efficiency, and teach you how to control your effort when your heart rate starts to climb.

The key is not smashing every hill — it’s learning how to stay steady, manage your breathing, and keep moving when the legs start to fatigue.

Now the focus shifts to recovery, fresh legs, and trusting the training.

Good luck to everyone racing UTA over the next week! Go steady early, enjoy the views, and finish strong.

Mums, with Mother’s Day this Sunday, this is your sign to take an hour for yourself 🤍

Di has availability this afternoon from 1:30 pm–3:30 pm at Pittwater Chiro (Balgowlah).

She’s a little different—a beautiful blend of massage therapy and energy healing—and after my session with her yesterday, I felt amazing.

I walked in with left-sided neck pain and foot pain, and walked out with not a touch of pain. I only had an hour, nearly fell asleep in the last 10 minutes, and today I feel so much better — even my mood feels lighter.

Whether this is a little Mother’s Day gift to yourself or you’ve just been running on empty and need a reset, this might be exactly what your body needs.

Appointments available today with Di: 1:30 pm–3:30 pm.

Book online or call the clinic.

UTA11 runners — this is where most people get it wrong.

If you’re feeling sore right now, that’s not a sign to push harder. It’s a sign to pull back.

And if you’ve missed a few sessions?
Don’t try to cram them in this week.

Here’s the truth 👇

The week before a race is about winding down, not catching up.

Research shows performance actually improves when training volume drops before an event — allowing your body to recover, refuel, and perform at its best.

Push too hard now, and you risk:

Turning up fatigued
Picking up an injury
Blunting your performance
Missed sessions won’t ruin your race but overdoing it this week might.

👉 Arrive fresh, not fit

Trust the work you’ve already done.

Hot take: most people aren’t unhealthy… they’re just overcomplicating everything.

Ice baths.
Morning routines.
Tracking every metric.

Two years ago it was celery juice cleanses.
Now it’s optimisation.

And somehow… people feel worse than ever.

More stressed.
More tired.
More confused about what actually matters.

We’re spending too long chasing optimisation…
that we’re forgetting the foundation.

Exercise isn’t about having the perfect program.

It’s about:
• moving your body regularly
• building strength that carries into life
• reducing pain and stiffness
• giving your mind an outlet
• and creating energy, not chasing it

You don’t need more hacks.
You need consistency with the basics.

Go for a walk.
Lift something.
Get outside.
Have a coffee with a mate.

That’s where health actually lives.

Save this for when you feel like you’re falling behind.

A month out from UTA11 and I’m loving trail running more than ever 👇

We drove past this spot on Wakehurst Parkway for years…
and had no idea this was sitting 5 minutes from home.

The Caleyi + Slippery Dip loop through Deep Creek is unreal.
First 7km — just me and the birds. No one else.
This is your sign to get off the road and into the trails.
Then Moon Rock…
Honestly felt like another planet.
Ancient rock art, crater-like landscape, beautiful views.

And yeah… I got a little lost 😅
But that’s part of it.

Stopping. Exploring. Taking it all in.
That’s what makes these runs different.

If you’re training for something — or just need a reset —
this is your sign to get off the road and into the trails.
