Gentle exercise is generally what is recommended in Chinese medicine and I do believe there are times where this is exactly what's needed. With my background teaching Pilates and yoga I'm a big fan of slower practices that help us connect inward and build awareness of our bodies. But what balance looks like can be very different for everyone, and Chinese medicine is about treating the individual person.

For some of us, adding intensity and doing the movement that we enjoy like running, strength training, sport, whatever it may be, is also part of our medicine. There's so much more to movement than the physical response. Our physical, mental and emotional selves are interconnected and constantly influence one another. Sometimes the medicine is slowing down. Acupuncture and cupping can support this response and our bodies ability to recover from training or life, or whatever is tipping things to one direction. Sometimes having training goals, purpose, intention and getting our bodies moving in the ways that drive us also promote balance x

If we've met in clinic before, you'll notice that even though we are working toward the same health goal, your treatment may look different each time you come in . The points I needle, whether we use moxa, cupping, or gentle needling on its own, depends on what's happening for you that day. Each time we meet you are different, and your treatment should reflect that.

I'll always take the time to understand how your body is presenting in the now. Questioning all areas of your health, not just the reason you've come in. Pain, digestion, stress levels, its all relevant. As a Dr of Chinese Medicine I'll also observe your tongue, and listen to your pulses. They tell us more than you realise.

Two people may come in with the same complaint.... headaches, back pain, fatigue for example, but each comes with their own story, and that's why every treatment is tailored to the version of you and how you've arrived to my treatment room ❤️
