📢 NDIS changes have started — do you know what’s coming next?

From 27 August 2026, a series of NDIS reforms will progressively change how plans are reviewed, renewed and accessed.

📅 Key dates to keep in mind:

👥 October 2026 – changes begin for some social participation and skill-building supports
💰 February 2027 – unused funding from a previous plan will no longer roll over
📝 April 2027 – the new planning approach begins to roll out
🚪 January 2028 – new NDIS access arrangements begin

ℹ️ The October 2026 changes specifically focus on social, civic and community participation and capacity-building daily activities. Personal care and assistance with daily living are not listed as part of this particular funding reset, although individual plans may still change according to each participant’s assessed needs.

💚 At Prime Garden, we believe good support is about more than a funding category.

It is about:

🤝 Dignity and respect
🏡 Continuity and a sense of home
🛡️ Safety and reassurance
🍽️ Maintaining meaningful everyday routines
❤️ Care that responds to the individual

Whether someone needs assistance with personal care, meals, daily living, companionship or short-term respite, our focus remains on providing care that is person-centred, respectful and responsive to each person’s needs.

🌿 As the NDIS continues to change, one thing remains important: quality care should always start with the person.

🌿 Good News for Support At Home Participates.

From 1 October 2026, eligible Support at Home participants will no longer need to pay a participant contribution for approved personal care services, provided personal care is included in their support plan and sufficient funding is available.

Care is about more than nursing care alone.

It is also about helping someone feel clean, comfortable, confident and respected in their everyday life.

This may include support with:

🛁 Showering, dressing and personal hygiene
🍽️ Eating and drinking
👕 Grooming and maintaining daily routines
💊 Assistance with self-administered medication
🤝 Non-clinical continence and mobility-related personal support

At Prime Garden, we believe good care should support the whole person—not only their health needs.

Alongside nursing oversight and health monitoring where required, our team provides respectful personal care, daily living support and meaningful companionship in a warm, home-like environment.

Whether someone is staying with us for a short break or requires longer-term support, we take the time to understand their routines, preferences, culture and individual care needs. Our goal is to help every resident feel safe, valued and genuinely at home—while giving families greater reassurance and peace of mind.

Planning a short-term stay or exploring ongoing care options? Speak with Prime Garden and your Support at Home provider to discuss approved services, available funding and suitable care arrangements.

Winter Warmth at Prime Garden 💚

The weather may be cold outside, but at Prime Garden, our home is filled with warmth, companionship and meaningful moments.

Each day, our residents enjoy fresh, tasty and nourishing meals, prepared with care and served in a welcoming, home-like environment. From comforting home-style dishes to special occasions such as Pizza Nights, mealtimes are not only about good food—they are also a time to sit together, share conversations and enjoy one another’s company.

Staying socially connected and engaged is an important part of everyday life at Prime Garden. Our regular social program includes light exercise, walking groups, arts and crafts, games and group activities, offering residents opportunities to stay active, express their creativity and build meaningful friendships.

We also enjoy celebrating special occasions together. Events such as Christmas in July bring music, laughter and festive cheer into our home, creating wonderful memories for residents, families and staff.

At Prime Garden, wellbeing means more than receiving support. It means enjoying nutritious meals, staying active, feeling included and having people around you who genuinely care.

Cold outside, warm like home inside.

🌿 Caring for a Family Member in Australia?

💡 Many families only discover these supports when a loved one suddenly needs care. Many people don’t realise that Australia actually has several support systems that can work together to reduce pressure on families.

Here are some of the key supports available:

🧩 NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)
NDIS funds support services, such as:
👩‍⚕️ support workers
🗣️ therapies (OT / Speech)
🧠 behaviour support
NDIS may also fund Short Term Accommodation (STA), which can provide respite care, trial stays, or support to build independent living skills.

💰 Disability Support Pension (DSP)
DSP is an income support payment for people unable to work due to long-term health conditions or disability. Currently, a single person may receive around $1,100 per fortnight. Many people receive both DSP + NDIS.

🏠 Commonwealth Rent Assistance
If someone receives Centrelink payments and pays rent, they may also be eligible for Rent Assistance to help reduce housing costs.

❤️ Support for Carers
👨‍👩‍👧 Carer Payment – income support similar to Age Pension
💵 Carer Allowance – around $150 per fortnight
🤝 Carer Gateway
Provides free support for carers, including counselling, respite services, training and practical resources.

🏡 Support at Home / My Aged Care
For older Australians, services are accessed through My Aged Care, including the new Support at Home program, which funds support such as personal care, nursing care and daily living assistance.

⏳ Important Age Milestone
📍 Enter NDIS before age 65 → usually can remain in NDIS long term
📍 Support needed after 65 → usually accessed through My Aged Care
💡 Some people receiving DSP may continue on DSP even after reaching Age Pension age, depending on their individual circumstances and what Centrelink considers to be in their best interest.

🌿 Exploring Care Options? Our facility welcomes residents supported by:
✔ NDIS funding
✔ Disability Support Pension (DSP) And Age Pension
✔ Support at Home funding

Welcoming the Year of the Horse at Prime Garden SRS 🐎🏮

At Prime Garden, we celebrate not only tradition — but connection, warmth and belonging.

This Lunar New Year, our residents crafted beautiful red lanterns together 🏮 — later decorating the facility and even their own rooms, bringing a festive atmosphere and wishes for a bright and fortunate year ahead.

We shared blessing red envelopes 🧧, enjoyed a joyful lucky draw, and took part in light-hearted friendly games that filled the room with laughter. 🎉

Residents also folded paper horses for good fortune 🐎 and gathered around the table to enjoy dumplings together 🥟 — a symbol of prosperity and togetherness.

More than a celebration, it was a moment of cultural sharing, joy and community spirit.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Lunar New Year —
May the Year of the Horse bring strength, health and lasting good fortune. ✨

At Prime Garden, food is never just about filling a plate.

A warm meal can bring comfort.
A familiar taste can spark memories.
And eating well, every day, plays a quiet but powerful role in wellbeing.

Our meals are fresh, nutritious, and home-style, thoughtfully prepared with a blend of Western favourites and Asian-inspired dishes. Menus are updated regularly to offer variety, balance, and enjoyment, while also supporting residents’ health and individual needs.

We take the time to understand personal preferences, dietary requirements, and texture needs, because care is often shown in the smallest details.

And behind every plate is a talented cook whose skill, dedication, and genuine care make these moments possible.
We are deeply grateful to our kitchen team for nourishing not only bodies, but also comfort, dignity, and a true sense of home. 💛
