🌙 SOMETIMES ANGER IS JUST GRIEF THAT HASN'T FOUND ITS VOICE… 💚
Have you ever found yourself getting angry over the smallest things?
Someone says the wrong thing, something doesn't go to plan, or you suddenly feel irritated by absolutely everything and everyone.
Or perhaps you know someone who always seems angry. Someone who's constantly frustrated, defensive, snapping at people, or carrying this heaviness that seems to follow them everywhere.
And you wonder… Why are they so angry all the time?
But have you ever stopped to consider that maybe, just maybe, anger isn't the real emotion underneath it all?
Sometimes, when we gently peel back the layers, what we discover is grief.
And grief isn't always about losing someone we love.
🌿 It can be grief for the life we thought we'd have.
🌿 Grief for the health or vitality we've lost.
🌿 Grief for a relationship that didn't turn out the way we'd hoped.
🌿 Grief for lost opportunities, broken trust, or dreams that never came to fruition.
🌿 Grief for the person we used to be before life changed us.
Sometimes we're grieving things we haven't even consciously acknowledged we've lost.
From a psychological perspective, anger can be a protective emotion. It can feel safer to be angry than to sit with sadness, disappointment, fear or helplessness.
But here's something I really want people to understand…
🔥 ANGER IS NOT TOXIC. ANGER IS NOT BAD.
Anger is a natural human emotion, and when channelled constructively, it can be incredibly powerful.
Anger can motivate us to change our circumstances, establish healthy boundaries, find our voice, stand up against injustice and finally say, "Enough is enough."
It's the sacred fire within us that says something needs to change.
But when that fire is continually suppressed, turned inward, or left burning without resolution, it can begin to affect our wellbeing.
From a naturopathic perspective, ongoing emotional stress can influence the nervous system, digestion, sleep, muscle tension and our body's ability to settle into a restorative state.
And this is where understanding our emotions becomes so important.
✨ Emotion is energy in motion.
It isn't something we need to fear, shame or bury.
It's something we need to learn to acknowledge, express and move through in healthy, constructive ways.
Sometimes that means crying.
Sometimes it means moving your body, dancing, walking in nature, journalling, speaking your truth, or simply allowing yourself to feel what you've been trying so hard not to feel.
And sometimes it means seeking support to understand the deeper wounds beneath the surface.
🌙 And here's where my witchy wisdom comes in…
In the old ways, fire was never seen as simply destructive.
Fire transforms. Fire illuminates. Fire clears away what no longer belongs.
And perhaps anger is a little like that sacred fire.
It can consume us when left unchecked, or it can become the very energy that helps us transform our lives.
But we must be willing to sit with it long enough to understand what it's trying to tell us.
Not every angry person is grieving. Sometimes anger is about fear, exhaustion, injustice, overwhelm or boundaries that have been crossed.
But sometimes…
The anger you've been carrying is actually the grief you've never given yourself permission to feel.
And perhaps the most powerful question we can ask ourselves isn't…
"Why am I so angry?"
But rather…
"What am I hurting over that I haven't allowed myself to grieve?"
Because sometimes healing doesn't begin by putting out the fire.
Sometimes it begins by understanding what lit it in the first place.
With love, a little earth magic, and a whole lot of understanding.
