Here's the truth: you cannot gain any extra fitness in the next 14 days. But you absolutely can wreck it by overdoing it.
The taper exists for a reason. Your muscles are healing, your glycogen stores are topping up, and your nervous system is resetting. That freshness you're going to feel on race morning? This is where it comes from.
Stick to your reduced mileage.
Run slow when it says run slow.
