🏃 Only 2 weeks to Gold Coast Marathon - are you ready?

The final stretch of marathon training is exciting, but it comes with its own set of challenges. Here are 4 common problems runners face right now (and what to do about them) 👇

1️⃣ The "Panic Training" Urge
That voice telling you to squeeze in one last big session? Ignore it. Last-minute intensity won't build fitness - it'll only increase your injury risk heading into race week.

2️⃣ Race Week Anxiety
Stress can make normal body sensations feel like something serious. If your legs feel heavy or tight, it's likely just your nervous system responding to taper - not an injury.

3️⃣ Doing Nothing During Taper
Taper doesn't mean stop. Keep the intensity up, drop the volume, and trust that your body is priming itself for race day. The work is done -now let it land.

4️⃣ Last Minute Niggles
Don't sit on it and hope for the best. If something feels off, now is the time to get it checked - not the morning of the race. And make sure you've already tested your race day gear!

We’re excited to introduce Sean Lau, the newest physiotherapist at our Inline Physio Moorooka clinic!

Sean brings a strong foundation in both physiotherapy and exercise science, with a Master of Physiotherapy Studies from UQ and a background in Sports Science. His early experience in community rehabilitation has shaped a thoughtful, thorough approach to assessment and treatment across a wide range of conditions.

He has a particular interest in:
✔️ Running rehabilitation
✔️ Sports injuries
✔️ Spinal pain
✔️ Post-operative recovery

Sean is passionate about helping patients return to the activities that matter most, whether that’s sport, work, or simply moving with confidence again.

Fluent in both Mandarin and English, Sean also enjoys supporting patients from diverse cultural backgrounds in feeling understood and comfortable in their care.
