A little bit of DSO in Sydney yesterday.

David was invited to present at the pre-launch event for the new Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® One Day for Astigmatism contact lens.

It was a chance to look closely at a new option for people with astigmatism and to share some of the things we think matter most when fitting contact lenses — clear vision, good stability, comfort and healthy eyes.

We’re always interested in new technology where it has the potential to give our patients better options.

This week is myopia awareness week. At David Stephensen Optometrist we take pride in our scientific approach to myopia management. By utilising accurate biometric measurements of children’s growing eyes we can tailor management strategies to control the rate of progression of myopia (shortsightedness).

✨ Clearer vision. Less fog. ✨
We developed a new custom scleral lens design in our practice to better support patients with complex corneas—like those with keratoconus, corneal grafts, or post-surgical changes.

Scleral lenses typically settle and lose some of their central clearance over time. But with this design, we actually saw a 76 micron increase in central clearance one month after fitting.

💡 What does that mean if you’re wearing them?
• Less pressure on sensitive parts of your eye
• More comfortable wear, even all day
• Clearer vision with less ‘midday fog’
• More stability, less fluctuation

We’re hopeful this approach will lead to better long-term comfort and clearer, more reliable vision for people who rely on scleral lenses every day.
