Proudly Australian Made. Family Owned. Built for Freedom.

We believe a wheelchair should be more than just a mobility aid—it should be an extension of the person using it.
That’s why every ONYX wheelchair is proudly Australian made and backed by a family-owned business that genuinely cares about the people we serve. We’re not a large overseas corporation producing thousands of identical chairs. We’re a passionate Australian family business focused on creating lightweight, innovative wheelchairs that help people live life on their terms.

Being Australian made means we’re able to work closely with our clients, listen to their needs, and continuously improve our products based on real-world feedback. It means local support, local servicing, and the confidence that your wheelchair has been built to handle Australian lifestyles and conditions.

As a family-owned company, relationships matter to us. When you choose ONYX, you’re not just another order number—you’re part of the ONYX family. We celebrate your wins, listen to your challenges, and are committed to helping you achieve greater independence and freedom every day.

From the first consultation to final delivery, our mission remains simple: to build exceptional wheelchairs that empower people to move further, do more, and live without limits.

Did you know a carbon fibre seat board has several advantages over a traditional seat sling, particularly for active wheelchair users.

1. Better Posture & Positioning - a seat sling stretches & sags over times, which can cause the pelvis to tilt backwards & lead to poor posture.

2. Improved Pressure Distribution - because the surface remains flat & consistent, a seat board allows pressure relieving cushions to work as intended.

3. Increased Efficiency - a stable seating platforms means less energy is lost through movement & flex, which makes pushing the wheelchair easier.

4. Enhanced Stability - transfers, reaching & daily activities often feel more secure because the seating surface doesn't move or sag.

5. Lightweight Strength - carbon fibre is extremely strong whilst remaining very lightweight, you get the rigidity benefits of a solid seat without adding significant weight to the wheelchair.

6. Long Term Durability - unlike fabric slings that can stretch, wear & require adjustment or replacement, a carbon fibre seat board maintains it's shape & support over time.

A seat sling can still be a good option for users who:

- Prefer a softer, more flexible feel
- Have minimal postural support needs
- Are looking for a lower-cost solution
- Need some natural shock absorption from the seating system

Meet another one of our awesome clients, Daniel.

Yesterday, Daniel competed in the Parramatta Half Marathon with the 26" spinergy wheels we supplied.
Daniel advised the wheels held up very well.

It's honestly amazing being sent pictures of our client's doing amazing things & watching them get amongst the community.

Great work Daniel!

Meet Trinity.

We first met Trinity at the ATSA Expo in May, where she had the opportunity to trial our very first ONYX Ultralight Wheelchair.

During our conversation, Trinity shared that she wasn’t eligible for NDIS funding because she wasn’t considered “disabled enough” under the scheme’s criteria. It was a reminder that many people can face significant daily challenges while still not meeting funding requirements.

Thankfully, the ONYX proved to be the perfect fit. Following her trial at the Expo, our service technician delivered the wheelchair to Trinity’s home so she could test it in her everyday environment and ensure it met her needs.

Fast forward to today, and we’re thrilled to announce that Trinity is now the proud owner of our very first ONYX Ultralight Wheelchair.

Congratulations, Trinity! We hope your new ONYX brings you greater comfort, confidence, and independence wherever life takes you. 💜🖤
