All our Podiatrists are graduates from Curtin University or the University of WA and are all members of the Australian Podiatry Association (WA). Nic is also an current Board member on the Australian Podiatry Association (WA). Galleria Podiatry also employs the services of Podiatric Surgeon, Dr Nick Marino (Podiatrist), a renoun foot and ankle surgeon with over 20 years experience. Dr Marino specializes in surgical correction of Bunions, Hammer Toes, Heel Spurs, Flat Feet, Nerve Impingements.

At Galleria Podiatry, we are always learning and upgrading our skills👣📚

Yesterday's lunchtime CPD was all about gait analysis, with Nic leading the team through a practical discussion on the gait cycle and how we assess movement in our patients.

We refreshed the fundamentals of the gait cycle, worked through case studies and discussed how different gait patterns help guide our clinical assessment, orthotic prescription and treatment decisions.

We love to learn, share ideas and keep challenging our clinical thinking 💙

Want to have healthier-looking nails by summer? ☀️👣 Start now!

One thing we always remind our patients is that fungal nail treatment takes time. Even when the fungal infection has been treated, the damaged nail still needs to grow out and this can take many months.

PACT is a great non-invasive fungal nail treatment, but what does it involve?

1️⃣ Mechanical debridement
We carefully reduce and trim the affected nail, removing thickened or damaged nail material and preparing the nail for treatment.

2️⃣ PACT gel
A photosensitive gel is applied to the affected nail. This gel helps target the microorganisms associated with fungal nail infections.

3️⃣ Light application 💡
The nail is exposed to the PACT light, activating the gel and completing the treatment process.

Meet Joanna 👋💙

Born and raised right here in Perth, Joanna is one of our podiatrists with a special interest in ingrown toenails, plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinopathy 👣

She loves helping patients get back to doing the things they enjoy, whether that's getting back into exercise or simply being comfortable on their feet.

Outside the clinic, Joanna is a Mum and self-confessed night owl 🌙 who loves trying out new bakeries 🥐 and experimenting in the kitchen 👩‍🍳

She's also a proud pet mum to two dogs and one cat 🐶🐶🐱

Another nail bracing transformation 👣✨

This patient came to us with involuted toenails affecting both big toes. The nails were significantly curved and causing discomfort, particularly as they grew.

After just 5 months of nail bracing, you can already see a noticeable change in the shape of the nails. They have become less curved and, most importantly, more comfortable for the patient 🙌

So, how does nail bracing work?

Nail bracing is a non-invasive treatment that uses gentle, controlled forces to gradually encourage a curved or involuted nail to grow in a flatter shape.

For this patient we used the Podofix system, which involves applying a small brace to the nail. As the nail grows, the brace gently lifts the sides of the nail and helps modify its curvature over time. The brace was changed at regular appointments every 4-6 weeks.

The goal isn't simply to make the nail look flatter, it's also reducing pressure and discomfort.

If your toenails are painful, highly curved or difficult to grow out, nail bracing may be an option worth discussing with your podiatrist.

Last Friday, we got into the festive spirit with a Christmas in July celebration at Varsity, Morley! The evening was filled with good food, laughs and a bit of friendly competition! 🏀🎮
