Flights booked? Accommodation sorted? Bags mentally packed? āœˆļø

There’s one more thing worth organising before your summer trip: your travel health.

The health advice you may need before travelling can depend on where you’re going, what you’ll be doing, how long you’ll be away and your individual health circumstances.

That’s why it’s worth booking a pre-travel appointment early rather than leaving it until the week before departure.

Your GP can discuss your travel plans, relevant health considerations and whether any vaccinations or other preparation may be appropriate for your trip.

Summer plans filling up already? Add one more thing to the list: your skin. ā˜€ļø

Queensland UV exposure doesn’t take a break, and spring is a good time to pay attention to spots, moles or skin changes you may have noticed.

A skin check gives you an opportunity to discuss anything that looks or feels different, particularly if you spend plenty of time outdoors.

At Morningside General Practice Clinic, comprehensive skin checks are available with both male and female skin GPs.

So before the summer calendar gets even busier, make some time for your skin too.

Breast awareness starts with knowing what’s normal for you šŸ’—

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, take a moment to notice any new or unusual changes in your breasts or chest.

Changes can look or feel different for everyone, which is why there isn’t one single thing to watch for. What matters is recognising when something feels different from your usual.

If you notice a new lump, change in shape or appearance, unusual discomfort, or anything else that concerns you, your GP can be a good first point of contact to discuss what you’ve noticed and what the next steps may be.

If something feels different, don’t put off the conversation.

Our clinics turned yellow for R U OK? Day šŸ’›, and it sparked plenty of meaningful conversations with our patients and with each other.

But asking ā€œAre you OK?ā€ doesn’t need to wait for a particular day.

As we head towards the end of the year, the festive season isn’t an easy time for everyone. Financial pressure, loneliness, family difficulties and other stresses can build quietly behind the scenes.

Sometimes, a genuine check-in can give someone the opening they need to talk.

So keep the conversation going beyond R U OK? Day. Check in with a friend, family member, colleague or neighbour and take the time to really listen to their answer. šŸ’›

ā˜€ļø Sunscreen? Check. Hat? Check. Skin check…?

As the weather warms up and we start spending more time outdoors, spring is a good reminder to check in on the skin you’ve been covering up all winter.

At Morningside General Practice Clinic, comprehensive skin checks involve a head-to-toe examination for moles, lesions and other areas that may need a closer look.

And if you feel more comfortable seeing a particular GP, you can book your skin check with either a male or female skin GP.

Think of it as one more thing to tick off before summer arrives āœ”ļø

ā€œWhat happens if you find something?ā€

It’s a fair question - and one that can make people put off a skin check longer than they should.

At Morningside General Practice Clinic, your GP can do more than simply take a look.

šŸ”Ž Your skin can be thoroughly checked for suspicious moles or lesions
šŸ”¬ If something is uncertain, a biopsy may be performed to help reach a diagnosis
🩹 If a concerning lesion needs to be removed, simple excisions can also be performed at the clinic

So if there’s a spot you’ve been watching, or it’s simply time for your regular head-to-toe check, you don’t need to wait until summer to do something about it.

Get it off your mind, and get it checked.

On 22 October 2026, Morningside General Practice Clinic will be recognising Pink Ribbon Day and showing our support for breast cancer awareness, research, and the many Australians affected by breast cancer.

This event will help raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and support life-saving breast cancer research.

Every day, 56 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer, and community fundraising plays an important role in supporting research, awareness, and better outcomes for those affected.

More details will be shared closer to the date, but for now, we’re excited to be taking part in this meaningful cause.

Stay tuned for updates from our team.
