Still coughing?
A cough lasting 3 weeks is worth checking
If it continues to 8 weeks, it’s considered a chronic cough
Common causes include smoking, asthma or COPD, postnasal drip, reflux, heart conditions, and sometimes medications
Watch for symptoms like fatigue, poor sleep, wheeze, shortness of breath, hoarse voice, reflux, or ongoing mucus
If you notice coughing up blood, chest discomfort, weight loss, or increasing breathlessness, it’s important to get checked
A thorough assessment matters
It’s not just about settling the cough, it’s about finding the cause
At VNPS this may include a detailed history, clinical examination, imaging, and blood tests
Referral to a specialist or further investigations if needed
Over the counter medications often don’t address the underlying issue
Confidential, comprehensive, no judgement care
Appointments available before and after work
If your cough isn’t improving, get it checked
