Aberlea Mortlake

Aberlea Mortlake Aberlea Inc. is a new entity for the organisation formally known as Abbeyfield House Mortlake which was formed in 1984 to address the need for aged care.

Aberlea Mortlake is an aged care hostel in Western Victoria. It is a modern, state of the art facility with 40 beds that provide permanent and respite care as well as day respite. Well maintained gardens, atriums and courtyards provide a pleasant outlook for residents and visitors. Every room offers a modern ensuite bathroom, built in robe, heating, telephone, TV points and an emergency call system. Residents are invited to furnish their room with treasured pieces of furniture, paintings and books to add to an atmosphere which is already homely and welcoming. All rooms have lockable storage space for residents' private belongings and doors which open to communal gardens and living areas. Communal areas within the house provide a relaxed settings where residents can enjoy the company of others, or a place to retreat for peace and quiet. A fully furnished respite room is available for those in the community who need accomodation and care on a temporary basis. Highly nutritious home cooked meals are prepared on the premises in our fully equipped commercial kitchen. Special dietary requirements are catered for upon request or need. Residents health and well-being are carefully monitored by an attentive staff of trained nurses and personal carers who are available 24 hours a day to help with all requirements. We also offer a range of service for members of the community who need help at home. These services include, but are not limited to, lawn mowing, gutter clearing, house cleaning, in house meals, window cleaning and general maintenance.

“Today the men from Aberlea traveled to Ross’s farm to see the lambs that are being reared on the lamb feeder.
Casey explained how it all worked which everyone found very interesting.
This was followed by a bbq lunch in the wool shed, cooked by Annie.
The weather was a little on the cooler side, however this certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits; a great day was had by all!
A big thankyou to Janette & Laurice for taking the men out to enjoy a wonderful day at the sheep farm 😊”

Thankyou so much to everyone who attended the RSPCA Cupcake afternoon yesterday!
We had a lovely afternoon with some gorgeous 4 legged friends and raised an amazing $520 for the RSPCA.
A big Thankyou to the Kitchen staff for baking the cupcakes, the Residents that made the homemade dog biscuits and everyone who brought raffle tickets, dog biscuits and donated! What an amazing effort !

This coming Friday 11th September we are raising funds for the RSPCA by hosting a cupcake afternoon. Homemade dog biscuits made by the residents will be for sale, as well as some great raffle prizes being offered, be in it to win it 😀

There are exciting times ahead at Aberlea, with the recent completion of two upgraded independent living homes at Aberlea’s Brumley Homes.

Adding to this exciting progress, approval has also been received for the construction of a sixth Aberlea Timboon independent living unit.

The Mortlake Dispatch and the Cobden Timboon Coast Times published articles this week regarding the exciting news, we have attached images from both articles below.

These developments represent another important step in expanding and enhancing independent living options for our community.
