💙 Positive Experiences Deserve to Be Celebrated 💙

In today’s world, negative experiences often receive the most attention. Today, I’d like to take a moment to recognise an organisation that truly deserves some positive recognition.

A huge shout to the team team Headway Gippsland Morwell! 👏

Today, I supported a participant who did not currently have a Support Coordinator. Together, we visited Headway Gippsland to explore what services and supports may be available.

From the moment we walked through the door, the team was welcoming, professional and genuinely invested in getting to know the participant. They took the time to complete an intake, actively listen and understand the participant’s goals, interests, preferences and individual support needs.

It was clear that their approach was genuinely person-centred and focused on ensuring the participant felt comfortable, respected and heard.

What began as an enquiry about Support Coordination quickly became so much more. The participant felt so welcomed and valued that they have now chosen to engage with Headway Gippsland for weekly one-to-one supports.

They were also provided with information about one of Headway’s social support programs and have already registered. They are now extremely excited about attending a movie outing next week—with popcorn and ice cream included! 🍿🍦

As support workers and providers, we often witness the incredible impact that genuine kindness, compassion and quality service can have on someone’s confidence and willingness to engage with supports.

Today was a wonderful reminder of just how much of a difference the right approach can make.

Thank you to everyone at Headway Gippsland Morwell for the compassion, professionalism and attention to detail you demonstrated. Your dedication made a genuine difference, and I have no doubt this participant’s journey will be stronger because of the support they received today.

Positive experiences deserve to be celebrated just as much as challenges deserve to be addressed.

We're starting the Headway Tabletop RPG Group in Morwell and we're looking for participants who want to join us for fun, immersive adventures and great stories.
✅ Brand new to RPGs welcome
✅ Seasoned adventurers welcome
✅ Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Cyberpunk and more
✅ 2-hour sessions
✅ Maximum ratio of 1 staff to 4 participants
✅ NDIS funding may be available

Sessions will be held at the Headway Morwell Office, 219 Princes Drive, Morwell. Days and session times are still to be decided and will be based on participant interest and availability once we know how many people would like to join.

🌻🎨 Sunflowers, Creativity, and a Touch of Imagination! 🎨🌻

Last week's Wonthaggi Social Support Group session was full of creativity as participants created these beautiful sunflower canvases using rope and raffia. ✨

It was wonderful to see everyone's artistic ideas come to life, with each piece taking on its own unique style and personality. 💛

One of our participants, Nicole, noticed that her design reminded her of a snail, so she embraced her creativity and transformed it into one! 🐌🌻 We love seeing how a simple idea can evolve into something completely unique.

Activities like these are a fantastic way to encourage self-expression, build confidence, and most importantly, have fun together. The creativity on display was truly impressive!

🚂💛 A Wonderful Day Out with Our Morwell Group! 💛🚂

Yesterday, our Morwell Social Support Group enjoyed a lovely train trip from Moe to Bunyip, followed by a delicious lunch at the Railway Hotel. 🚆✨

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the yummy meals and desserts, with plenty of laughter, great conversation, and good company throughout the day. 🍽️😊

We'd like to extend a big thank you to the Railway Hotel for their warm hospitality and beautiful lunch. We especially appreciate their ongoing support of our group, including providing a bus for some of our outings.

Community is all about people supporting people. It's wonderful to see local businesses helping community groups thrive, and in turn, we're proud to support the businesses that generously support us. That's the kind of community spirit we love to see. 💙

Here's to connection, friendship, and supporting local—from community to community.

🏉❤️ A Special Sunday at the Footy for Caitlyn ❤️🏉

One of our participants, Caitlyn, recently enjoyed a fantastic day out supporting her beloved Essendon Football Club at their special Challenge game, held in partnership with Challenge to help tackle childhood cancer together. 💛

It was a meaningful event for a wonderful cause, bringing the community together to support children and families affected by cancer while celebrating the game we all love.

To make the day even better, Caitlyn got to see Essendon secure a win! 🎉 We can only imagine how exciting that was for such a dedicated Bombers supporter.

We're so happy Caitlyn had the opportunity to be part of this special occasion and hope she enjoyed every minute of the day, from the atmosphere in the stands to cheering on her team. ❤️🖤

🎭🎵 A Fantastic Day at the Theatre! 🎵🎭

Nicole enjoyed a wonderful outing to see the live production of Shake, Rattle and Roll at the Union Theatre Wonthaggi on Sunday. 💛

She loved the music, enjoyed the lively dancing, and happily sang along to many of the songs throughout the performance. 🎶✨

Nicole said "it was worth coming to see it" and was excited to have the opportunity to get a photo with the performers after the show. 📸

Her favourite part of the performance was the Elvis tribute, which had her singing along and enjoying every moment! 🎸👑

It's always great to see participants getting out into the community, experiencing live entertainment, and creating lasting memories with activities they love.

🥔👨‍🍳 Cooking Up Fun with the Magnificent Minions! 👨‍🍳🥔

Last Monday, our Trafalgar Magnificent Minions spent the day in the kitchen creating delicious baked potatoes. 💛

Everyone enjoyed preparing their own baked spud and choosing their favourite toppings, making each meal as unique as the person who made it. From preparation to plating up, there was plenty of teamwork, laughter, and creativity involved.

Best of all, everyone got to enjoy the tasty results together at the end of the activity! 🥔✨

Cooking activities are a fantastic way to build skills, confidence, and social connections while having fun with friends.

🎨🛍️ A Change of Plans with the South Coasters! 🛍️🎨

The first planned outing of the month may have been cancelled due to the wild weather, but our Wonthaggi South Coasters didn't let that stop them from having a great day together. 💛

Instead, the group enjoyed browsing the craft market organised by the Bass Coast Auxiliary, discovering plenty of wonderful handmade items along the way. A couple of participants even found some special treasures to take home, including a colourful headband and a beautiful wedding card. ✨

To finish off the day, everyone enjoyed a delicious light lunch at the 1911 Café, with plenty of laughs and great conversation shared around the table.

Just goes to show that sometimes the best adventures are the unexpected ones! 😊
