The Mindful Birth Movement Perinatal Psychologist, HypnoBirthing Practitioner & Mum
Empowering women to feel calm and confident!

About Rebecca Black
Founder & Director of The Mindful Birth Movement:

I’m a Psychologist, a HypnoBirthing Practitioner, and most importantly a mum to three wonderful children. As a passionate psychologist, I have a wide range of experience working with clients at an individual, group and organisational level. I provide individual counselling to clients of varying backgrounds and presenting issues

, including concerns related to anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, stress, relationship and family issues, and more. Through utilising evidence-based approaches and developing a strong therapeutic relationship with clients, I am able to support clients to move through the difficulties they are facing, improve their quality of life and attain a sense of fulfilment. After having my children, I discovered my passion for pregnancy, birth and babies… and developed a special interest in supporting women throughout their perinatal journey. I understand the range of difficulties that women can experience in relation to conception, pregnancy, birth and motherhood, and I believe the support of a warm, non-judgmental and compassionate person can make a significant difference. The Mindful Birth Movement is an established and growing business that provides a range of services to women throughout their perinatal journey. Based in Heathmont, we offer a continuum of support to clients as they move through conception, pregnancy, birth and motherhood. These services include counselling and psychological support, HypnoBirthing Childbirth Education Programs, and our signature group program, Mindful Motherhood. Our mission is to support women to honour where they are at and redefine their motherhood experience through letting go of unrealistic expectations, reducing guilt, anger, anxiety and depression, and engaging in self-compassion.

Comparison really is the thief of joy.

The moment we start looking over the fence and wondering if someone else’s grass is greener, we stop noticing everything that’s already growing in our own backyard.

Someone will always seem to have more, be doing more, achieving more, or making it look easier than you. But what you don’t see are their struggles, sacrifices, insecurities and challenges.

Instead of asking, “Why don’t I have what they have?” try asking, “What am I grateful for right here, right now?”

Water your own grass.
Celebrate your own progress.
Trust your own path.

Because the goal was never to become someone else.

As Gavin DeGraw said, “I don’t want to be anything other than me” - absolute banger with wise words!!

And honestly, the older I get, the more I realise that’s enough ✨

Thank you so much for all the birthday messages, calls and kind wishes. 🤍

A little snapshot into what my birthday week has involved and I could not feel more grateful ⬆️

Birthdays always give me a chance to pause and reflect on what matters most to me, the values that guide my life, and whether I’m living in a way that feels aligned with them.

Today, I’m feeling incredibly grateful for the beautiful family, friends, colleagues and clients who make up my community. Thank you to those who support, encourage and challenge me to keep growing, both personally and professionally.

A special thank you to the many people who trust me to walk alongside them and hold space for them during some of life’s biggest transitions and challenges. It is a privilege that I never take for granted, and I feel so lucky to do work that is so meaningful.

My cup is very full, and I’m feeling excited about what this next year might bring. ✨🤍

What an incredible first day at the One Fine Baby Expo Melbourne! 🤍

Today we had the privilege of connecting with so many beautiful mums, mums-to-be, partners and families as they navigate the journey into parenthood. There’s something so special about hearing people’s stories, answering questions, sharing resources, and reminding parents that they don’t have to do it all alone.

We’ve also loved meeting and reconnecting with the many amazing businesses, practitioners and organisations who are all passionate about supporting families during pregnancy, birth and beyond. It’s such a wonderful community to be part of.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by The Mindful Birth Movement stand today. We’ve loved every conversation.

And the good news? We get to do it all again tomorrow! ✨

If you’re planning a visit to the Expo, make sure you come and say hello. We’d love to chat about pregnancy, birth preparation, postpartum support, matrescence, mental health, or simply hear where you’re at in your journey.

See you tomorrow! 🤍

Whether you're currently starting solids or simply curious about what lies ahead, Carla will be there to answer questions and share practical, evidence-based advice.

So grateful to have spent time with the incredible team at this week, presenting an in-service on Matrescence-Informed Care. 🤍

We had such rich and valuable conversations about the developmental process of matrescence, the importance of holding space for the whole person (not just the presenting symptoms), and how collaborative, interdisciplinary care can create more meaningful and effective outcomes for the women and families we support.

I absolutely love connecting with like-minded professionals who are so deeply committed to women-centred care, and it’s always a pleasure working alongside the team at Pelvic Strength to support our mutual clients.

When we work together, stay curious, and continue expanding our understanding of the motherhood transition, we create safer, more compassionate spaces for women to be truly seen and supported. ✨
