⛳☕ How does remote and mining life impact dads and families in places like Mount Isa?

That’s what not-for-profit organisation Dads Group is hoping to better understand during a series of community events and meetings across the city this week.

The group is speaking with local fathers, health organisations and community groups about the pressures facing dads in remote communities — including long work hours, FIFO arrangements, isolation and the challenges of balancing family life far from support networks.

Dads Group Project Officer Andrew Marmont said many fathers feel they have to carry pressure and responsibility alone.

💬 “There’s no real outlet for that … it’s just those invisible pressures that a lot of fathers in these communities might face.”

Federal Special Envoy for Men’s Health Dan Repacholi will also join some of the conversations and events while he’s in town.

Events this week include:
▪️ Coffee Club Drop-In Morning Tea — Thursday, 11:30am
▪️ Dads Golf Night at Buffs Club — Thursday, 7pm
▪️ Dads Speedgolf at Mount Isa Golf Club — Friday, 11am
