One of the things we assess during a birth prep physio appointment is perineal body length. A shortened perineal body is a risk factor for OASI (3rd/4th degree tears) that often doesn’t get discussed in standard antenatal care. 💛

Last night I stood in front of a room of Doctor of Physiotherapy students at the University of Melbourne and talked about pelvic health. 🌸

My first face to face presentation since having my kids and honestly, a little out of my comfort zone.

But here’s the thing about pelvic health, it doesn’t get talked about enough. Not in lecture theatres. Not in clinical placements. Not in everyday conversation. And if the next generation of physiotherapists leaves university without understanding the impact of pelvic floor dysfunction on women’s lives, we all lose.

So I showed up. Slightly nervous, deeply passionate and ready to start the conversation.

The room was engaged. The questions were thoughtful. And the gratitude from those students reminded me exactly why this work matters so much.

Every physio will encounter patients with pelvic health needs, whether they specialise in it or not. The more we normalise the conversation, the better the outcomes for every woman who walks through a clinic door.

To the students in that room last night, thank you for your curiosity, your openness and your time. You are going to do incredible things. 💛

Six years ago I started as a sole trader. No team, no clinic, just me, a phone, and a deep need to talk about women’s pelvic health with anyone who would listen 🥰

Then COVID hit. Access to pelvic health care changed and I poured everything into this page. Education, awareness, real conversations about things nobody was talking about. It became something during that time. And honestly, so did I.

What started as just me has grown into a clinic with a team of 9, courses, workshops (👀), ebooks and a community of women I feel genuinely honoured to be trusted by.

But through all of it, this page has always been personal. My experiences. My two caesareans. My motherhood. My business. It’s never been about the clinic handle. It’s always been about me showing up.
So I’m making the handle match the reality.

Did you know there are different types of prolapse? 👇

Anterior wall — bladder descending into the front vaginal wall.
Posterior wall — re**um descending into the back vaginal wall.
Multi-compartment — when more than one organ is involved.

Each type presents differently and each woman’s experience is unique. But they all have one thing in common, you don’t have to just live with it.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is one of the most effective first-line treatments for prolapse, regardless of type or severity.

She’s 3 today 🌸

Three years ago I was lying in theatre, playing, waiting to meet our surprise baby for the first time. She was placed straight onto my chest and in that moment, I became a mum. 🥺

Six months ago I did it again. This time a maternal assisted caesarean, reaching down to lift my son into the world myself. Same playlist. Completely different magic. 💙

April is Caesarean Awareness Month and as both a mum of two caesarean babies AND a pelvic floor physio, this topic means everything to me.
