“Can you do anything for frozen shoulder ?”

I tagged along with my wife Dearne recently who was treating horses with Bowen at a local property.

Whilst there, the owner asked me if I thought I’d be able to help her.

We decided to do a small improvised treatment there and then whilst she sat on a plastic bucket as Dearne treated the horses.

Frozen shoulder can be complex and can take some time to recover. However, I don’t diagnose, I just treat the body as it presents.

At the completion of her treatment she was astonished that she was able to abduct both her shoulders all the way to her ears, as well as emulate putting on her bra without pain or restriction.

Her knee, elbow, neck pain and headache had also greatly benefited.

I love how portable and versatile Bowen treatment can be.

And it was nice to have a day out in the countryside 😊

“My headache has gone !”

This has been a common treatment outcome of late among my clients.

As a therapist different things come to mind at different stages when reflecting on treatment outcomes.

Depending on training, experience, how you apply treatment or recent training that may have given you further skills to apply to your treatments. It all plays a role.

As a practitioner what comes to your mind of late regarding common treatment outcomes ? 😊🤷‍♂️

Occasionally I receive a text message from prospective clients asking how is the best way to book an appointment.

I respond to clients however they choose to contact me. Ie. Direct phone call, text message, Facebook messenger or email (although email replies may take longer due to only checking periodically)

Or in the case of getting a few groceries on the way home this week I was greeted at the checkout by a client.

“Just the person I need to see, I need to book my husband in one morning.”

Me: “How about Friday ?”

It’s that easy 😊

Sometimes as a therapist I wonder how effective my treatment can be when I see a client only once.

Particularly when an issue has been problematic for months or years. Usually it takes a few treatments to at least give the treatment a fair go to see if it’s going to help.

I received this text out of the blue from a friend four months after I treated him.

He had a niggling pain in his side for months and had been to his GP and consequently had undergone several medical tests, but the source of the problem hadn’t been identified.

He now lives interstate and was travelling though Mudgee late last year where we were able to catch up one evening.

I offered to treat him when he mentioned the pain he was suffering, particularly considering the long drive he had ahead on his return home.

He felt some relief at the time of treatment, but considering the length of his car trip, at the time I didn’t hold any great hope for a miraculous result for his pain.

This therapy never ceases to amaze even me 😊

I recently did a short treatment for a lady with asthma and another chronic breathing condition.

After the treatment she was immediately able to breath more freely and deeply.
She commented that she was now able to breathe out easily, a function she was unable to do yesterday when asked to do so by her GP.

Bowen addresses the diaphragm and other muscles associated with breathing, as well as addressing posture which may be impacting the rib cage and lungs.

No it can’t cure some conditions, but Bowen treatment can often help support the body to minimise symptoms.

Happy Mother’s Day !

It’s my experience that the mum’s are the ones who send their husbands, children and friends to me for treatment.

Even if they are experiencing pain themselves, many tend to look after other’s needs before their own.

It’s such a noticeable trend that I have often commented to clients that “Mum’s will often look after their husbands, kids and even the neighbours Guinea pig before themselves.”

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mum’s.

Some nice feedback from a client this week.

After suffering badly for the past month with chronic neck pain and headaches, my client was reminded of how good the body can feel after treatment.

(Oh, and it’s not majic, just a gentle therapy that is often surprisingly effective)

The outcome of MSTR scar treatment recently for a client’s C-section scar prompted me to share this article.

My client recently started Bowen treatment for chronic lower back pain. For years she suffered with constant aching in her lower back and sacrum, particularly after prolonged standing.

Two Bowen treatments helped somewhat, but although the ache was less, it remained constant.

On the third treatment her C-section scar was addressed, which resulted in her pain disappearing completely.

She was pleasantly surprised, especially considering the scar, which was many years old had never caused any pain or discomfort in recent years.

In her case, it seems the scar was the missing piece of the puzzle.
