Yoga Nidra (with Hatha Yoga): A Two-Part Immersion with Aimee 🌒

✨ 5:45PM WEDNESDAY 19 & 26 AUGUST ✨

Join Aimee for a special two-part Ta***ic Hatha and Yoga Nidra series (while Margarita takes a well-earned break from her usual Wednesday class!)

Across two Wednesday evenings, we’ll explore the complementary lunar and solar qualities that exist within Ta***ic practice, with each class combining a nourishing Ta***ic Hatha sequence and an extended guided Yoga Nidra.

Part One: LUNAR explores the quieter qualities of stillness, surrender and a calm, settled mind, creating the ideal conditions to soften into deep rest.

Part Two: SOLAR gently shifts towards the radiant qualities of the heart, cultivating reverence, devotion and quiet inner strength before descending into Yoga Nidra.

Each evening offers a complete experience in itself, so you’re welcome to attend either class independently.

However, attending both provides a beautiful opportunity to experience the balance of these complementary energies through movement, meditation and deep relaxation.

Suitable for all levels of experience. Bookings essential via MINDBODY.

Yoga isn’t meant to be another way of escaping life for an hour. It’s the place we return to so we can remember ourselves. ❤️‍🔥

The world constantly pulls our attention outward. There will always be demands, distractions, uncertainty and change. A consistent practice creates an inner reference point that isn’t dependent on any of those things. It reconnects us to the quiet, steady place within that remains unchanged beneath the movement of daily life.

Practice doesn’t remove us from the world, it helps us meet the world without losing ourselves within it.

MEET OUR TEACHERS: welcoming Rachel 🌿

You might recognise Rachael from our studio community… because she’s been an OG member of The Dharma House from the beginning! Local to Mudgeeraba, Rachel is an experienced Yoga Teacher specialising in nurturing restorative practices, and will be sharing her magic regularly across the timetable (keep an eye out for her monthly restorative workshops and stepping into Friday classes each week)

A FEW QUESTIONS WITH RACHEL:

🌿 Four words to describe you:
Warm, curious, vibrant and open-hearted.

🌿 What can people expect in a class with you?
A thoughtful practice, shared from my heart, where you are welcome exactly as you are. With options for both new and experienced students, you are encouraged to meet the practice in a way that feels right for you. There is no need to perform or perfect a pose - only an invitation to move, breathe and reconnect with your authentic self. My hope is that you leave feeling more grounded and better able to meet life with steadiness and ease.

🌿 Which of the yamas or niyamas do you most resonate with?
At the moment it’s Svadhyaya, self-study. Yoga has continually invited me to understand myself more deeply. I love that yoga is an ongoing process of curiosity, reflection and discovery that helps us live with greater awareness and intention. Santosha, contentment, is a close second!

🌿 When you’re not teaching or practicing, what are you usually up to?
Attempting to surf, planning our next family adventure, exploring somewhere new, or getting up early to watch the sunrise. I’m happiest near the ocean, dancing to live music under an open sky, sharing good food with people I love, soaking up the energy of a festival, and hanging out with my hubby and girls.

We’re glad you’re here, Rach. 🧡

MEET OUR TEACHERS 🌿 Tyler

Let’s play another round of “Five Questions With…”

tyler.hatha.yoga

🌺 What’s a simple ritual you rarely skip?
Lighting a candle and singing the Om Asatoma mantra with my girls 🫶🏼

🌺 If your life had a theme song, what would the vibe be? (fun one!)
Life is a highway 😂

🌺 What’s something yoga has taught you that you carry into everyday life?
Yoga has taught me many things it’s so hard to pick one 🥲 I would say that the smallest moments, those tiny moments of pause are the most important and until I started to practice I often overlooked those moments but when I think about growth or healing there’s never just one big moment, it’s always the moments in between that have the most power.

🌺 What helps you feel grounded when life gets busy?
My practice, always. Being able to just get onto that mat, light my candle and breathe for a minute. It really brings me back to the very simple reminder that everything we need, we already have inside of us.

🌺 What’s your favourite part of teaching?
Funny it’s actually very similar to my favourite part about teaching kids. It’s that moment where you can see something has landed or resonated with a student, they’ve heard what they needed to hear and there’s a sudden realisation that “ahhh yesss” moment and in that moment they’ve come a little further forward in whatever journey it is that they’re on 🥹🫶🏼

PRACTICE WITH TYLER:
9:30am Saturdays fortnightly for Lunar Hatha.
(You can also also follow Tyler‘s beautiful home schooling business, cultivatingcuriosity_ )

‘Tapas’ (discipline) isn’t just about holding a challengin pose or dragging yourself out of bed for an early workout. 💪🏽

It might also be choosing to put your phone down instead of scrolling… or making the phone call you’ve been avoiding. Or filling the car up tonight instead of hoping tomorrow morning somehow works itself out. Owning a mistake. Following through on the commitment you made to yourself.

These little moments of discipline aren’t about becoming tougher or trying to be ‘good’; they are the small ways we continually refine our character. Every time we choose what we know is right over what is simply easy, we strengthen qualities like courage, patience, integrity & presence.

And over time, the tradition suggests, that is what allows our Tejas, our inner radiance, to shine a little more brightly. 💫

A calm mind & abundant, steady energy are the ingredients for living our Dharma ❤️‍🔥

If we have a calm mind but no energy, we may struggle to act, move forward, or bring our ideas and dreams into reality.

But if we have an abundance of energy without a calm, clear mind, we can easily become scattered or act on unhelpful impulses. (Dangerous!)

And so… we need a balance of the two! And Hatha Yoga is the path for cultivating it.

Through conscious movement & stillness, ancient breath techniques, and refined awareness, we develop a mind that is steady enough to choose wisely and a body that has the vitality to live those choices. ✨

Are you around on Saturday morning? Our treasured teacher Rach is back in the studio with you for 7am Solar Hatha, followed by 9:30am Lunar Hatha with our amazing Em.

Bookings essential via Mindbody.

JULY STUDIO THEME: अभय Abhaya ~ Fearlessness 🌿

This month in the studio we are exploring the concept of Abhaya: the Sanskrit word for fearlessness. In the text the Bhagavad Gita, it is listed as the very first of the divine qualities to develop on the path of Dharma.
But rather than feeling “no fear”, fearlessness in yoga is more about “still feeling fear, but doing the scary thing anyway”. It invites us to keep moving toward what feels aligned in life, even when uncertainty, discomfort or fear are present.

Fear is a natural part of being human! Our minds are wired to protect us by noticing risk and imagining what could go wrong. Yet a life that feels aligned, expansive and deeply meaningful asks us to cultivate something greater than fear: self trust. It’s the willingness to back ourselves, to honour our intuition, and to trust that whatever unfolds, we can meet it with wisdom & courage.

Every time we choose to speak our truth, express our gifts, or take a step toward the life that is calling us, we strengthen that trust. And over time, self trust becomes fearlessness. Maybe this is why Abhaya is placed first among the qualities of the path: for when we have the courage to walk our Dharma, we allow our unique light to become an offering to the world. 🌺

We look forward to exploring this concept with you in the studio this month!
