Myrtleford Alpine Saints Football Netball Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Ken ‘Kanga’ Johnston, a dedicated Saint and lifelong stalwart of our club.

Ken played 92 senior games for the Saints and went on to serve the club as Secretary from 1969-1974 and Treasurer from 1975-1988. His contribution to the MFNC spanned more than 60 years, earning him a well-deserved place in the MFNC Hall of Fame.

Ken’s commitment extended beyond our club, serving on the Ovens & Murray Football League Board and being awarded O&M Life Membership in 1992. He was also a recipient of the Victorian Country Football League Service Medal in recognition of his outstanding contribution to country football.

We extend our deepest condolences to Ken’s wife Margaret, his children Julie, Vicky, Wayne and Shelley, and all of Ken’s loved ones.

As our senior boys take the field in the preliminary final this weekend, we reckon there’ll be a close eye on the clock from above. Here’s hoping when that final siren sounds, it’s the Saints in front.

Myrtleford Football Netball Club is now inviting applications for coaching positions across all netball grades for the 2027 season:

We are seeking coaches who are passionate about player development, embrace a whole-club approach, work collaboratively with others, and create a positive, supportive environment for all players.

Myrtleford competes in the Ovens & Murray Football Netball League, widely regarded as one of the strongest football/netball competitions in Victoria. The league continues to set a high standard of competition, highlighted by the 2026 Ovens & Murray Open Representative Netball Team being crowned State Association Champions.

At MFNC, we’re proud of our strong community culture and our commitment to developing players at every stage of their netball journey. We’re looking for coaches who share those values and are excited to contribute to a positive, connected club environment.

❤️🤍🖤 FINALS WEEK 2 – 1ST SEMI FINAL RESULTS ❤️🤍🖤

What a day for the Saints! To say we are proud is an understatement! 🙌

A massive congratulations to the Myrtleford Junior FootballClub, with both the U12s and U14s crowned PREMIERS after fantastic Grand Final wins! 🏆🏆 What an achievement for our up-and-coming Saints stars!

Our U17s netballers kept their finals campaign alive with a brilliant 8-goal win over the Wangaratta Magpies, before our Senior footballers capped off the day with a huge 21-point victory over the Wodonga Bulldogs!

Four big wins, two premierships and plenty to celebrate — what a Father’s Day! ❤️

Congratulations to all the players, coaches, volunteers, families and supporters involved. The Saints spirit was certainly alive and well, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Riley Smith was superb in the ruck to win our REVL Training Player of the Day!

It'll be the Rovers and the Saints next Sunday at the Albury Sportsground!
