Congratulations, Julie Howes!

A huge congratulations to Julie Howes, Director/Principal Solicitor of LGBTI Legal Service Inc., on receiving the Queensland Law Society Excellence in Law Awards – Pride in Law Award!

Julie’s incredible advocacy and leadership have made a lasting difference for LGBTIQA+ communities, particularly through her work improving safety and access to justice for people experiencing domestic and family violence.

Such a well-deserved recognition of the work Julie continues to do for our communities.

🌈 Help Shape the Future of Rainbow-Inclusive Aged Care in Queensland!

Are you an LGBTQ+ older person living in or around Meanjin (Brisbane) or Naamba (Nambour/Sunshine Coast)?

We're working with SCU to invite LGBTQ+ older people to take part in a community focus group to help shape a new model of rainbow-inclusive residential aged care that will be implemented in mainstream aged care settings from 2028.

This is an opportunity to share your experiences, ideas, and hopes for the future of aged care, helping ensure services are welcoming, inclusive, and affirming for LGBTQ+ older people.

This day recognises the strength, resilience, cultures, knowledge and contributions of Indigenous communities, and the importance of protecting and promoting Indigenous rights, voices and self-determination.
