Lip Pigmentation: What's Causing It and What Can Help

Brown or white marks on the lips can be caused by sun exposure, genetics, or other factors, and should always be checked by a doctor first; particularly white spots linked to chronic sun damage.

Once diagnosed, most pigmented marks can be treated with IPL or laser, including erbium laser to help rejuvenate the lips. Aftercare typically includes a fading cream, SPF50+, and keeping lips moisturised.

Cellulite, lipoedema and lymphoedema can look similar, but they are quite different.

Dr Glenn Murray explains that cellulite relates to fibrous bands pulling the skin down and can appear even in slim legs. Lipoedema is a hormonally sensitive build-up of tough fat, usually in the legs and arms of women. Lymphoedema is swelling caused by the lymphatic system rather than fat.

He also shares how Vaser and Vibrasat liposuction may be considered for some patients following consultation.
