In our latest journal article, Angela Hywood explains while most wild yam creams don't affect hormone levels, some do seem to work, but not because of the wild yam itself.

Testing has revealed that many so-called natural wild yam creams contain pharmaceutical progesterone, without disclosing this on the labelling or providing appropriate medical supervision. This can lead to unexpected hormone exposure and side effects like:

➼ Breast tenderness
➼ Mood swings
➼ Menstrual cycle changes

If a wild yam cream "works," it's often because it contains hidden hormones, not because of any herbal action from wild yam itself.

That said, when wild yam is taken orally as an herbal extract it is a different story. It has a long history in herbal medicine, especially for women's health. Wild yam is a well-regarded traditional herb for perimenopause and menopause when taken orally and prescribed by a qualified practitioner.

Head to the Floralia Journal for the full article on 'The Truth About Wild Yam Cream'.

We feel deeply honoured to have been a part of Donna's story.

After she worked with her blood glucose levels shifted from 8.2 to 4.8. She lost eight kilograms and eight centimetres from her waist.

Results like these do not come from a generic protocol. They come from understanding the full picture of a woman's health, identifying what is driving her symptoms at a root cause level, and building a plan that is precisely suited to her body.

This is what Diane does. And it is why so many women find their way back to her.
If you are ready to take a personalised, clinical approach to your metabolic health and overall wellbeing, we invite you to book a complimentary 10 minute Discovery Call. 💌

If you have a thyroid condition with antibodies, your naturopath or nutritionist may have suggested reducing or removing gluten from your diet, and there's good reason for this.

A 2019 study found that removing gluten in women with Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, who did not have coeliac disease, reduced thyroid antibodies and improved thyroid hormone levels.

Changing one part of your diet can have a real effect on thyroid function, your symptoms, and antibody levels.

For recipe ideas, gluten free swaps and remedies that can further support your thyroid health, get in touch with our team to start optimising your health. You can book an appointment or a complimentary 10 minute discovery call using the link in our bio 🩷

Where did the name Floralia come from?

Mythical, divinely feminine and the quintessential earth mother, Floralia shares its magical name with the annual Ancient Roman festival in honour of the goddess Flora!

Symbolising flowers and the coming of springtime, Flora was a goddess of plants, fertility and life-cycles.. the very qualities which envelop our ethos of unearthing the true feminine self, of celebrating re-birth, transformation and the very essence of honouring the purity of natural wellness. 🌷

Your child's bloods came back normal.

So why is nothing adding up?

Standard blood tests are a valuable first step, but they only show us a single moment in time. Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis gives us a three-month picture of what's happening at the tissue level, including mineral imbalances and heavy metal exposure that bloods simply don't screen for.

Swipe through to see how the two compare.

More on this in our latest article on the Floralia Journal, 'Why Standard Testing Misses Mineral Imbalances In Kids' , written by . 🫶🏼

Breastfeeding is one of the most nourishing experiences a mother can share with her baby, but for many women, mastitis turns this season into something painful and exhausting.

Mastitis is inflammation of the breast tissue, often triggered by a blocked milk duct or infection. It can come on quickly, bringing pain, redness, swelling, and sometimes fever. Left untreated, it can progress towards a breast abscess, so early support matters.

Our naturopaths take an integrative approach, combining evidence-based natural remedies with medical care when it's needed. The two work well together, and getting the right support early can make a real difference to how quickly you heal.

Our latest Floralia Journal article walks through the herbal and homeopathic remedies our naturopaths recommend, along with simple at-home care to ease your recovery.

Read the full guide, link in bio, or book a consultation with our team if you'd like personalised support for mastitis or breastfeeding more broadly. 🫶🏼

Preparation for IVF tends to focus on medications and scans. Egg quality gets less attention, and it's shaped by what happens in the body months before treatment even starts.

A recent study followed women with PCOS who had already tried IVF without success. Adding alpha-lipoic acid (800mg daily) to their existing myo-inositol for three months before their next cycle brought fewer immature eggs, more high-quality embryos, and better insulin regulation. Pregnancy rates rose from 33% to 52%.

The study was small, but the pattern was clear, supporting metabolism and reducing oxidative stress before IVF can shift egg quality in a meaningful way.

Eggs take about three months to develop, so what you do in that window can be powerful.

If you're interested in the full breakdown, head to the Floralia Journal to read our latest article, "Can Alpha-Lipoic Acid Help Improve IVF Outcomes?". And if you need personalised support, our naturopathic clinicians are experience in supporting women through IVF and would be honoured to support you.
