If you’re building your skincare routine from scratch, here’s how I’d approach it:
️⃣ Take everything out of your bathroom cupboard and sort it into the four jobs: protect, prevent, renew, support. Anything that doesn't clearly fit one of those is optional, not essential.
️⃣ Strip back to a gentle cleanser, a moisturiser and a sunscreen for two weeks. This gives you a clean baseline, which is the only way to tell what's actually helping and what's been irritating you.
️⃣ Introduce one product at a time, with a couple of weeks between each. If something causes a reaction, you'll know exactly what it was.
️⃣ Give any actives at least twelve weeks before deciding whether it's working. Skin cell turnover and collagen changes don't happen on a two-week timeline.
