✨ Meet Amy! ✨

We’re excited to welcome Amy, our newest Occupational Therapist, to the You Therapy Services team! 💙

Amy brings experience across NDIS and community aged care, with a particular interest in assistive technology, home modifications and finding practical solutions that make everyday life safer, easier and more accessible.

With a background in psychology, Amy brings a thoughtful and person-centred approach to her work.

And outside of OT? Amy is busy raising twins👯‍♀️and, when she gets the chance, enjoys playing social sport. Although these days, her sporting strategy is less about winning and more about slowly moving down the grades while trying to stay in one piece 😂

We’re thrilled to have Amy on board and can’t wait for you to meet her! 🎉

One of our OTs is currently in Vietnam and sent us this gem. 😂

Technically... it's a ramp.

Realistically... it's a waterslide with stairs. 🛝

Safe to say accessibility standards are a little different over there. We'll stick to Australian Standards for our home mods! 😉

OT friends, we'd really appreciate your help! If you have 2–3 minutes, please complete the short survey below to help us shape the first learning modules for The OT Foundry. 🙌

We’re shaping the first short learning modules for The OT Foundry — and we’d love your input 👋

If you’re an OT working in home mods, AT, community practice, aged care, NDIS, or anything nearby, this quick survey will help us understand what would actually be useful in real-world practice.

Tell us:
✨ which topics would help most
✨ what resources you’d use alongside short videos
✨ where home mod decision-making can feel tricky

It only takes a few minutes, and your feedback will help guide what we build first.

Well… that was unexpected! 🤯🏆

Our Director Laura and Sarah Smith Occupational Therapy are absolutely thrilled (and still a little shocked) to have won the Pitch It competition at OT Australia's OT Exchange in Brisbane with The OT Foundry! 🎉

Think Shark Tank… but with Occupational Therapists. 🦈😂

Standing up in front of a room full of incredibly talented OTs and pitching our idea in just a few minutes was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating. The nerves were real, the adrenaline was high, and we’re pretty sure neither of us breathed properly for the entire presentation!

A huge thank you to Occupational Therapy Australia for creating an opportunity to showcase innovation, creativity and big ideas within our profession.

A massive congratulations as well to Nikki Cousins and Chris Pearce, whose fantastic product wikiQuip took out the People’s Choice Award! 👏 A well-deserved win and a testament to the impact they’re making in our profession.

What an experience, and a reminder that sometimes the ideas that scare you the most are the ones worth putting out there.

Now excuse us while we recover from the stress and pretend we knew what we were doing all along. 😅🍾

Two years ago, and I started talking about a problem we kept seeing in occupational therapy.

Why is so much of our learning theoretical when the work we do is so practical?

Since then, what started as conversations, notes, voice messages and late-night ideas has slowly evolved into The OT Foundry.

This month, we'll be introducing The OT Foundry at OT Exchange 2026 as part of the Pitch It session.

The OT Foundry has been built around busy lives, growing businesses, families, client reports, school lunches, and all the other things that compete for attention when you're trying to bring an idea to life. It's been a long road, but we're excited to finally start sharing it.

Our goal is simple: to make clinical learning more practical, more engaging, and more connected to real-world occupational therapy practice.

We're starting with home modifications — a shared special interest, and an area where OTs are often expected to bring together clinical reasoning, construction knowledge, standards, risk, function and confidence — often all at the same time and rarely in textbook-perfect environments.

Our first resources will be short, practical, video-based learning modules designed to support OTs with specific home modification tasks and real-world clinical decision-making.

This is the first time we've shared The OT Foundry publicly, and we'd love to take you along for the journey.

Neroli had a really inspiring day undertaking professional development in power wheelchair functions and alternative control options.

Learning about and experiencing different types of bases, drive wheel positions, seating options, power functions, programming and control options, helps us clearly understand the needs of our clients and promotes optimum outcomes.

No matter how experienced you are as an OT, there are always new things to learn.

Thanks to GTK and Quantam Rehab!
