Our Centre of Excellence in Transforming Gut Health (Previously CRE- Digestive Health) supports gut research, training and collaboration.

Our Centre is funded by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Centres of Research Excellence program, from 2020-2024. It brings together researchers from universities, hospitals and research institutions in Newcastle, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. World leading researchers, clinicians and healthcare providers are joining with stakeholders, patients and carers to improve the understanding, diagnosis and management of chronic digestive diseases.

National Eosinophilic Week (NEOSW)is taking place from 2-8 August 2026! Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell, and NEOSW aims to increase community awareness and understanding of eosinophil-associated diseases. Landmarks, buildings, and bridges across Australia and New Zealand are lit up in pink and purple until Saturday, the colours representing eosinophils.

NeuroGut 2026 was Singapore’s flagship meeting dedicated to neurogastroenterology, gastrointestinal motility, and Disorders of Gut–Brain Interaction (DGBI). Representing the CRE-TGH, Professor Gerald Holtmann and Dr Ayesha Shah attended the conference, as well as University of Newcastle researcher Dr Georgina Williams.
