A moment in time, that changed my life. Years ago I worked at a publicist at an Australian wildlifepark.

As my job involved working with Australian and overseas media, journalists, film crews...I needed to learn a lot about our incredible animals. One day I walked in for a chat...and the wildlife carers introduced me to our first ever wombat...an orphan joey called Wilson. His mum was killed in a road accident.

❀️

Part of the purpose of choosing a wombat as the narrator 4 my kids book...was to raise awareness about how to help Australian wildlife.

All of us can help.

One key thing is don't travel at night or dawn..and always keep an eye out 4 animals when driving. Many animals...including wombats...are out more during the day in winter.

Look out for animals. Slow down, stop, and report sick/ injured / deceased animals to a wildlife rescue crew. Thanks 4 helping our incredible animals.

Same tree, taken from different angles. I think she's beautiful. When I shared these photos with a friend in Perth, she called it the resilience tree. Because despite the harsh weather conditions in that location....the tree is still there. Its grounded and still standing. But for its survival it has learnt to change, lean and adjust.

That makes it a good reminder for us all...

Building resilience and reframing challenges is something I love to write about. Which is a big part of my story ..and a big theme throughout my two latest books...

What if.. ? How to reframe challenges into growth opportunities ( for 13 plus) and Wilson says " What if...? " ( for under 12s). Both are available from my Web, any book shop or specially shop, and online sites.

❀️

Keep this in mind...

We're not born with resilience. Instead we build it through challenges we overcome...and through having real conversations around change and challenges. To remind each other that both are normal ...and natural...and part of life. And we will be ok, with the right support around us.

Telling someone to just 'toughen up' or 'get over it'...is not helpful. This can trigger anxiety πŸ™ƒ and/or depression.

Hope you find this helpful.

❀️ But if this post has triggered something...please seek professional help and advice. Your doctor is a good starting place.

There's so much beauty outside your front door. Make it a daily priority to get out to see and explore it.

❀️

Even though I have a Degree in Health Science ( Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine ) I've come to realise i don't need supplements...the latest fad food products...or a meal plan.

But I do need daily nature hits. To reconnect and ground myself.

Making time to walk and spend time in nature on a daily basis is part of my simple wellness plan. It's also a form of meditation.

Purely a suggestion. Try it for 7 consecutive days, without checking your mobile phone, and let me know how you feel.

Finding the beauty in nature..every small detail... is extra important for me at the moment. Because life feels very very busy.

So im forcing myself to slow down. Breathe. And acknowledge the beauty in nature. I'm looking closer...at the finer details.

This helps me breathe deeply.. reset my nervous system, ground myself.

When I do these things..I make better decisions...and i have clearer thoughts. Which translates into better writing. And more thoughtful, considered conversations with others.

Simple wellness works for me. And its free. ❀️ Sharing.. in case this helps you too.

Hope you are well. Hope you are looking after YOU.

PS. Thankyou to Warin Wildflowers
For sharing these beautiful native flowers with me. .

Last Sunday was Solstice. It's the shortest day of the year. So I needed to head out early to catch the sunset. My mum ( who sat in the car) didn't think the sunset was looking impressive. πŸ™„ But my patience paid off...and from different angles at the lookout I was able to catch these pics.

The park...which was created and is cared for by the local is one of my favourites.

Lions remind me of courage, speaking your truth, protecting your family and community ❀️ bravery. They are a great symbol for us all...a reminder that all of us have power. All of us have a voice.

A reminder that we're powerful when we work together as a community...for the good of all.

I adore the ocean. Last weekend I traded the blue from the for the blue of the sea..to spend time with my mum.

🌈 🌈 🌈

Mum and I visited one of our former homes - in the mid North Coast of NSW.

I'd forgotten how incredibly beautiful it is...naturally.

The beaches are stunning and the people are kind.
The area is what I now know ( in holistic nutrition terms) to be a
A place where older people thrive and live healthy for longer...because of their connections to community and simple, healthy lifestyles.

I took mum back for a short visit because she's out of sorts...lonely...and her short term memory is fading. I hoped the visit would bring some joy, which it did. But it brought sadness as well...for what was... ❀️

So many memories came back for me too. Some sad, but mostly good. It reminded me ( yet again) that sometimes we need to step back...reflect and reframe...to see the 🎁 🎁 🎁 gifts in life. And to appreciate what we have in the here and now...

Yesterday I dropped off 10 more copies of Wilson to in Village.

I love a good book store display. This one is called Explore the Magic of Winter.

You'll find it at the gorgeous bookstore in Village...which is mid way up the mountains...in the Blue Mountains.

Say hello to Wilson if you pop in. He's part of this gorgeous display.
