At Elermore Glen, we have an annual major fundraiser and this year our efforts were directed towards Parkinson’s disease research.

As over 200,000 Australians live with Parkinson’s including some of our residents, we thought it was a very relevant and important cause for us to support.

We had 2 very knowledgeable guest speakers from Hunter Medical Research Institute to give us some background knowledge about their work with research into the disease.

And support we did!! Wow! What an amazing effort from our Elermore Glen residents! All the gifts for our tombala and raffles were donated by very generous residents and the standard of gifts was very high. All the delicious food we enjoyed during the afternoon tea was all baked and made by very clever Elermore Glen residents. And all the ticket sales, wrapping of gifts, food and hall preparations and clean up were all done by our tireless Social Committee.

We thank you all for a wonderful effort and each and everyone of you who donated, baked, came and spent up big need to be congratulated.

All up we raised $5000 towards Parkinson’s research, well done everyone!!

This Loneliness Awareness Week, we're celebrating the friendships, conversations and everyday moments that make our community so special.

Whether it's a morning execise class, a game of scrabble, band night, craft, gardening, or simply stopping for a chat with neighbours, life at Elermore Glen offers plenty of ways to connect.

🎉 Congratulations to Ray! 🎉

We're proud to recognise Ray from Elermore Glen as the recipient of our inaugural Impact Award for living our Resident First value.

Since joining the team in January, Ray has made a remarkable impact through his dedication, positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile for residents. His work in the gardens has been widely appreciated, with many residents regularly singing his praises.

One example that stood out was when Ray came into the village on a Saturday to set up the Community Centre after discovering preparations hadn't been completed for a Social Committee event. Thanks to his initiative and commitment, the event was able to go ahead as planned, ensuring residents could enjoy time together without disruption.

Ray leads by example every day, showing that putting residents first is about the little things as much as the big ones.

👏 Congratulations, Ray, and thank you for making such a positive difference at Elermore Glen.

✌️🌼 Peace, love and good vibes! 🌼✌️

Our Happy Hippie Night with the Howard Ward Band was a groovy success! From tie-dye and flower crowns to plenty of singing and dancing, everyone embraced the hippie spirit and had a fantastic time. 🕺💃🎸

A huge thank you to our wonderful Social Committee for all their hard work preparing and serving a delicious meal for everyone. Feeding a crowd is no easy feat, and we truly appreciate the effort that went into making the night so special. 💛🍽️

Thanks to everyone who dressed up and joined in the fun – what a memorable evening at Elermore Glen! ☮️🌈

🎶 Congratulations to our very own Allan Ward! 🎶

We're delighted to share that Elermore Glen resident Allan Ward has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the King's Birthday Honours, alongside his identical twin brother, Milton, for their service to the community through music.

For more than eight decades, Allan and Milton have brought people together through the joy of music, entertaining audiences across the Hunter region and creating lasting memories along the way.

At Elermore Glen, Allan continues to share his talent and enthusiasm with fellow residents through the much-loved Yellow Bin Band performances in The Shed and community events alongside his family.

Allan, thank you for the happiness and connection you bring to our community. Congratulations to both you and Milton on this well-deserved recognition.

Safe to say, having an OAM recipient in the Yellow Bin Band has officially raised the bar for Tuesday night entertainment! 😊👏🎺🎷🎵

The Elermore Glen Community Centre has been renamed in honour of Bob - recognising the role he played in shaping this village into the community it is today.

In conversation with Peter Inge, Bob reflected on more than two decades of building and evolving Elermore Glen, and the decision to eventually pass it on to new custodians.

Peter spoke to what truly defines a great retirement community, not just the buildings, but the culture within them. As he said, “good retirement communities are a combination of fantastic built form and a wonderful culture.”

That culture is clear at Elermore Glen today - a village where residents feel supported, connected, and proud of where they live.

Bob described the journey simply: focus on building a strong product, and everything else follows.
For him, the priority was always creating a place that worked for the people who called it home.

The decision to sell wasn’t taken lightly, and took time to ensure the right people would carry the village forward.
Today’s renaming is a lasting acknowledgement of that legacy and the community that continues to thrive because of it.

A village built with care.
A community shaped over time.
A legacy that continues.

💐 Celebrating the Wonderful Women of Elermore Glen 💐

Last Sarturday we came together to celebrate Mother’s Day with a beautiful high tea filled with laughter, friendship and plenty of sweet treats.

From mothers and grandmothers to cherished aunties, sisters, friends and all the incredible women who help nurture and support those around them, it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the special role women play in our community.

At Elermore Glen, community is built over years of friendship, connection and shared memories - and last week we were delighted to celebrate some very special milestones. 🎉

Last week, we recognised 115 residents for their long-standing contribution to village life at Elermore Glen with:
✨ 78 residents celebrating 10 years
✨ 37 residents celebrating 20 years

We also celebrated a special occasion for Clive, Chair of the Resident Committee, who recently turned 80 and was presented with a gift in recognition of both the occasion and his valued contribution to Elermore Glen. 🎂

Congratulations to all residents recognised this week and thanks for helping make Elermore Glen such a warm and connected community. 💛
