WHATS THE LOWDOWN ON CAFFEINEโ๏ธ
When following the 30 day healthy living plan we recommend substituting highly caffeinated drinks like coffee for the energy fizz sticks and herbal tea.
HERE IS WHY:
It is all about quality! Often when we drink coffee, it has come from beans that are old, were roasted a long time ago & may be harbouring mould (also roasted so carcinogens) - these compounds can cause a lot of the issues we see with caffeine - shakiness, jitters etc. They can cause inflammation in the body & disrupt hormones too
Good quality caffeine sources can be beneficial for the metabolism in people who can break down caffeine properly
Some people do however have a genetic polymorphism which means they don;t break down caffeine well and it can cause them to feel rough - or people who have adrenal issues & high cortisol levels can struggle with caffeine too.
So it is individual! Some people are fine on caffeine AS LONG as it is good quality caffeine - others do not do well on it
This is why we only have fizz sticks & the optional metabolism support supplement as caffeine sources on the plan - high quality, purer caffeine & in lower amounts
If you are thinking decaff coffee is better - think again! Unless it is swiss water decaffeinated it can be worse than caffeine as they soak the beans in horrific chemicals to remove the caffeine
So moral of the post - try fizz sticks as a replacement, if you feel good on them great - if you don't, stop using them or have just 1/2 a sachet. Another word about them, the caffeine is derived from ginseng & green tea (not roasted so no carcinogens), which are both rich in antioxidants.
Alternatives that are also great are herbal teas, roasted chicory root & almond milk. Fountain Rock are a great artisan coffee brand too.
I posted samples of the fizz sticks last week, happy to post some more this week too for anyone who would like to try.
