I wasnโt going to post this but here goes ๐
When I was about 5 or 6, I stole a tiny chocolate from the supermarket.
Mum caught me. She was SHOCKED.
I had to take it back and apologise.
I remember feeling horribly ashamedโฆ
โฆbut also being REALLY annoyed that I didnโt get to eat the chocolate. ๐
Fast forward to my late teens and apparently I hadnโt learned my lesson. ๐
My friends and I were breaking into places, climbing building-site scaffolding, getting up on water towers and lying there watching the stars.
There were definitely a few WHS violations involved. ๐
And recently I found myself thinking:
Whatever happened to that girl?
I donโt miss the breaking-and-entering or the potentially-deadly climbing. No no no.
But I do miss her -
The curious girl.
The adventurous girl.
The one who thought, โIf they can do it, so can I.โ
Somewhere along the way, I think many of us become really good at being sensible.
Responsible.
Practical.
Safe.
And sometimesโฆ a little too good at it.
We stop taking chances.
Stop trying new things.
Stop dreaming quite so wildly.
Not because we donโt want those things anymore.
But because life gets busy. And comfortable. And we convince ourselves thereโs always a better time.
So lately, Iโve been asking myself:
What would happen if I started saying YES to more of the things that make me feel alive?
New experiences.
New people.
New adventures.
Bigger risks in my business.
It's why I have a vision board - not because I need another list of things to achieveโฆ
โฆbut because I need reminders of the life I actually want to LIVE.
Maybe the question isnโt:
โWhat risks should I take?โ
Maybe itโs:
โWhat part of me have I been playing too safe to meet?โ
Go on.
Grab life by the horns. She's waiting for youโค๏ธ
