🌟 MEET LANCE | SIRV SUPPORT WORKER

At SIRV – Team Lewis, we’re proud to have a team of Support Workers who bring their own experience, personality and approach to the people they support.

Today, we’d like to introduce Lance.

Lance has a passion for supporting children and young people and creating positive, enjoyable experiences that are centred around their interests, goals and individual needs.

Here’s a little about Lance, in his own words:

“Hi, I’m Lance, a Support Worker at SIRV Team Lewis.

I have experience supporting children and young people with a range of disabilities and support needs, including ASD, ADHD, PDA, non-verbal communication and developmental delays.

My main goal is to help the kids I support enjoy themselves, build confidence and develop new skills at their own pace. I believe that support is about meeting each person where they’re at, gradually encouraging them to step outside their comfort zone and celebrating the small wins along the way.

Every child is different, so I focus on building genuine relationships, understanding what they enjoy and creating an environment where they feel safe, supported and confident to try new things.

I’m passionate about helping the people I support get out into the community, stay active, have fun and work towards their individual goals.”

——
Think Lance could be a great fit for you or your loved one?
Get in touch with the SIRV team to chat with us and arrange a meet and greet to see if Lance is the right match for your support needs.

Caring for someone you love is a big job, and your wellbeing matters just as much as theirs. 💙

In this video, Aynsley from Home Care at Sirv explains where carers can find support:

🏡 Home care services can help your loved one get care at home, and may also give you access to respite.
🤝 NDIS is your go-to if the person you care for has a disability.
💬 Carer Gateway is designed just for carers and offers peer support, coaching and more, whatever the needs of the person you care for.

Leaning on these supports isn't giving up. It's how you keep going. Take a look at what's available and start lightening your load today.

We'd love to hear your story, so please keep sharing them with us. 💚

Leadership. Paul “chief” Harragon lead the Newcastle Knights to a famous victory in 1997. I was 7 years old. I remember running into the street with my family, as the Hunter Valley erupted into scenes of jubilation on full-time. The City of Steel had not seen such unity since Fort Sratchley’s guns repelled a Japanese submarine attack off Newcastle during WW2.

“The Chief” embodied the spirit of a true leader. Ownership, belief in his team, and fearlessness. His toughness and courage matched only by his gentleness and kindness off the field.

The Knights face down Penrith this weekend in the preliminary final, and the town is bristling with pride, we know this is about much more than just football. It’s about leadership, grit, community, no small amount of skill and a never-give-up attitude. This is what we love doing!

Go the knights!

💙 Carers are all around us, and sometimes, they don’t even realise they are one. Aynsley Johnson, Sirv’s General Manager for Home Care, reminds us that carers aren’t always people with a formal title. They can be our parents, partners, siblings, friends or neighbours, simply showing up every day to care for someone they love. 🫶

As we head towards National Carers Week, 11–17 October, we’ll be sharing more about recognising carers, supporting them and making sure their incredible contribution is seen.

Because sometimes, caring for a carer starts with simply seeing them.*💙

🖤💛 R U OK? 💛🖤

A meaningful conversation could make a world of difference - and sometimes, it could even save a life. You don’t need to be an expert to reach out. You just need to be willing to ask, listen and be there.

R U OK? Day is a reminder that checking in shouldn’t be limited to one day a year. If you’re unsure how to start the conversation, these four simple steps can help:

1. Ask: “Are you okay?”
2. Listen with an open mind
3. Encourage action and offer support
4. Check in again and stay connected

As an NDIS Service & Aged Care Provider, we know that support goes beyond our professional roles. It’s something we can all offer in our everyday lives.

You never truly know what someone may be going through. A simple “R U OK?” could be the conversation that lets someone know they’re not alone. 💛
