Looking for an exciting school holiday activity for your young person?

Join Hillebrand Shaw & Co and Bright Feathers Counselling & Consulting for our Confidence & Comics Holiday Program, a fun, neuro affirming workshop where participants create their own superhero, explore their strengths, tackle challenges, and bring their story to life through comics and creativity

Throughout the day, young people will:
💚 Design their own superhero or avatar
💚 Discover their unique strengths and "superpowers"
💚 Build confidence, resilience and social skills
💚 Create their own comic story
💚 Make new connections in a supportive environment

And the fun doesn't stop there!

Participants will also enjoy a full day of activities including:
💚 Bowling or Putt Putt Golf
💚 Yo Chi
💚 Arcade Games
💚 Hunter Wetlands

Date: 7th July (Girls Group) & 14th July (Boys Group)
Time: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Location: Evolve Hub, Charlestown, followed by activities at Charlestown Square and Hunter Wetlands

Last week, Tomika from Hillebrand Shaw & Co presented at a carer information session, focusing on one of the most misunderstood aspects of the NDIS: the difference between diagnosis and functional impairment.

The discussion explored the importance of strong evidence, the role of GPs and allied health professionals, and why the NDIS assesses how a disability impacts a person’s ability to function in everyday life - not simply the diagnosis itself.

Attendees also learned about the supports available through the NDIS, including support workers, therapy supports, assistive technology and consumables, as well as the importance of advocacy when navigating complex systems.

Knowledge is power, and informed families are better equipped to advocate for the supports they need and deserve. 💙
