Not all ACL injuries require surgery. Treatment depends on the individual injury, your activity levels and your goals.

Do you need an MRI?

It's one of the most common questions I'm asked. An MRI isn't always the first step.

Watch to find out when an MRI really makes a difference.

Knowing the signs is the first step. Learn how to diagnose and act early to help get the right treatment and the best possible outcome.

What a month it's been!

I recently celebrated my 1,000th Mako robotic-assisted knee surgery, and this September I also reached 750 Mako hip replacements. On top of that, I've now officially celebrated 10 years since I did the first robot-assisted surgery in Newcastle.

A decade ago, robotic-assisted joint replacement was still new territory. Today it's a core part of how I plan and perform surgery, helping me tailor each procedure to the individual patient with greater precision.

A huge thank you to my patients for their trust, and to the incredible theatre, rooms and hospital teams who make every one of these surgeries possible. Here's to the next 10 years.

What is your ACL, and why does it matter? Why the ligament that keeps your knee stable when you twist, pivot and change direction is important.

What should you expect at your first orthopaedic appointment?

Your initial consultation is an opportunity to discuss your symptoms, review any relevant imaging or medical history, and determine the most appropriate next steps for your care.

Knowing what to expect can help you feel prepared and informed ahead of your appointment.

A very special milestone - 1,000 Mako Total Knee Replacements

An incredible effort.

Thank you to my colleagues, theatre teams and everyone who has supported the journey.

Every patient is different, so my approach is to understand the whole person before recommending anything. Sometimes surgery is the right option, but many people improve with education, physiotherapy and the right plan.

My goal is simple: to help you make an informed decision about your care.

Follow for more practical orthopaedic education.
