Our CEO, Michelle Povah, is a finalist for the Westfield Warringah Mall , and it would mean so much if our community, our village would help us get her over the line 🙏

If you've crossed paths with Michelle, you'll know that she's the one who remembers your name and is always up for a cuppa no matter how busy she is.

She's dedicated the last 30 years to working with children and families affected by mental health, homelessness and domestic abuse and somehow still makes the time to volunteer as a Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT leader, sit on the Board of the Physical Disability Rugby League Association (NSWPDRL) and look after child safety for the Bennelong Northside Orienteers Club.

If she wins, W&CF receives $20,000. That would pay for over 230 hours of trusted on-site childcare at our refuges, so mothers can access critical support like medical appointments, police interviews, court hearings and counselling while their children play and connect with someone they feel safe with 🙌👫👶

Right now, the NSW Government is reviewing how the coercive control laws are working. Your input matters.
Coercive control isn’t always visible, but it can be just as damaging as physical abuse and it’s often hard to recognise, especially from the inside.
Since 1 July 2024, coercive control has been a criminal offence in NSW, a significant step in how we respond to domestic abuse.
If you have views on how the law is working, complete the survey or upload a submission before it closes on Friday.

A powerful morning at our Warringah Men’s Stronger Together Breakfast, bringing men and boys of all ages together to talk openly about mental health, connection and the importance of asking for help.

A huge thank you to Kieran Foran for sharing his deeply personal story and reminding us that these battles cannot be fought alone, and to Tim Hewson from Mongrels Men for guiding the conversation with such care.

The message from the morning was clear: checking in matters, but sometimes we need to dig deeper. Seeking help is a strength, and support is available at every stage of life.

We are backing an organisation and a campaign that says something simple. Homelessness is solvable.

Homelessness Nsw is calling on the NSW Government for two things. Fund homelessness services properly, an increase of 50 percent, so services can prevent people falling into homelessness rather than only responding once they have. And commit to growing social housing by 10,000 homes a year until it makes up 10 percent of all housing in the state.

We see what happens without this. Women arrive at our door because the system upstream could not hold them, and too often we are the ones left finding somewhere for them to go next. A properly funded system would mean fewer women reaching crisis in the first place, and a real path to stable housing once they do.
